    Windows 10 login......

    .... nasty surprise.

Got that 'finish your setup' screen showing on logging in again. Here we go and got a few questions, such as use your default browser settings, blah-blah, which I could skip. No problem. It the goes to something like 'Get Office 365' with a box to 'try it for free'. I don't want the free Office apps nor 365 so I click next.

Here comes the surprise. It goes to a 'mandatory' screen to fill in your credit card details!! What!

Had to go back to previous screen and select 'Try it for free'. Was forced to download the free office app/s to be allowed to continue to the desktop. Not on really, Microsoft, forcing people to installing your apps.

Might want to try this... I "never" get those messages.

Disable App Notifications on Lock Screen in Windows 10

Turn On or Off Lock Screen Notifications in Windows 10

That key in my registry looks like this...

Except for the registry I think I have the appropriate settings set. Having said that, that isn't the point. The point is this is going to happen to those that aren't all that familiar with the ins and outs of Windows. Not good in my book.

Well... there's not much anyone can do about that.

I agree but it's pretty bad of Ms and at least giving a 'heads up' about it isn't a bad thing.

You could equally say (alas!) that MS's default for updates is to apply them with arbitrary restarts at unexpected times.

Note exactly designed with the user in mind.

Yes, Steamrolling Microsoft an appropriate new name for them.
