Yet again the sleep issue arises

    Windows 10 Pro (22H2)

Yet again my computer won't go to sleep after recent updates. What I've tried:

Using an elevated prompt nothing shows up for:
    powercfg -requests
    powercfg -lastwake

Checked the usual culprits in Device Mgr incl HIDs, mouse, keyboard and network
    Restored plan defaults
    Disabled wake timers under Sleep
Set sleep & display sleep to 1 minute
    Hybrid sleep off
Set 'Allow Computer to sleep' in multimedia settings
    Disabled fast-startup
    Disabled screensaver (set to 'none')

    Did a clean boot:
    Unchecked 'Load startup items'
    Disabled all non-MS services
Also disabled all Startup items in task manager

    Even tried MS Power troubleshooter
I've no new peripheral devices plugged in
I can't restore to a meaningful restore point as I seem to have only 4 available restore points, all within the last week. I guess I didn't act soon enough.
I don't believe I've got a virus as sleep stopped working around about the time of some recent MS updates

I don't have problems with Win10 apart from sleep which I believe is broken in Win 10 anyway. It's been working for at least a year now until very recently and I can't think of what else to do.

    Gus,

    1 Reinstall your display driver.
Driver corruption is a recognised cause of sleep problems.

    2 Start making system images.

Thanks for the suggestion Denis but alas it didn't work. I uninstalled Nvidia drivers completely and wiped them off my system and did a reboot. With no drivers just the MS default bog standard one sleep didn't kick in either. I've reinstalled Nivida drivers again but to a slightly later version and rebooted but as expected this didn't help either.

    Sorry I couldn't help.

I have no other useful suggestions other than the fairly standard:
    - Check HP's site for Bios updates.
    - Check HP's site for driver updates - actually, I cannot see it being a driver problem.
    - SFC - SFC - TenForumsTutorials Options 3 & 5 - actually, I cannot see a fault that SFC would detect surviving this long without being fixed in the course of a Windows update.
    - Repair install - Repair Install - TenForumsTutorials - actually, I cannot see a fault that a Repair install would fix surviving this long without being fixed in the course of a Windows Version update unless you had achieved every Version update using WU or Enablement packages. I imagine that your Windows Version updates have included at least one manual update using the downloaded ISO file.
    - See if anybody else reports similar problems in HP's user forums.

It might help somebody else who might be able to help you if you clarified:
1 Are you referring to the computer failing to S3 Sleep after the interval set in Power options?
2 Are you also referring to a failure to S3 Sleep when told to in Start button, Power, Sleep?
3 Do you have S3 Sleep? Check using the command PowerCfg -a and consider posting the results.

By the way, "apart from sleep which I believe is broken in Win 10 anyway" rather puzzled me. There is no general sleep problem in Windows 10. There are far fewer reports of sleep problems than there were with Windows 7.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

Just so you can see what I'm getting

    Code:
    C:\Windows\system32>powercfg /availablesleepstates
The following sleep states are available on this system:
        Standby (S3)
        Hibernate
        Hybrid Sleep

The following sleep states are not available on this system:
        Standby (S1)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

        Standby (S2)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

        Standby (S0 Low Power Idle)
The system firmware does not support this standby state.

        Fast Startup
This action is disabled in the current system policy.

For me there most certainly is. Not just on this computer but on previous with Windows 10 mostly and I'm not the only one. I think a lot of people don't do anything about it and just live with it.
