Notepad files don't show up to saved folder

I usually save the files to desktop but now, when I go to find them I don't see them there. The funny thing though if I try to re send them it says file is already there do I want to replace it? If I click yes to overwrite the file still, can not be found? Thanks!

    Hello @p5200,

If you Refresh the Desktop [ F5 ], can you see them ?

Do they show up if you navigate via the address bar?

    C:\Users\Username\Desktop

    C:\Users\Public\Desktop

    If so then:

I have no idea then. Try the linked cache fixes.

Most likely they are going to your temp folder. Do a search by filename in File Explorer.

Edit: It's possible that there's a different folder that got created somehow named Desktop, at a different location, which is not the Desktop.

    Try this:

Open Notepad, type a bunch of random stuff, then File --> Save As...
Then press this "Up" button many times until it no longer could be pressed:

Notepad files don't show up to saved folder-image.png

Then at the bottom, type something for File name.
    Then press the Save button.

Then look on your Desktop. Do you see it?
