    Can't open Winzip File

So I have been using Winzip to open zipped files. My Winzip has expired and they want $54 for one year. They have always had numerous choices but only seeing this one. What can I do to open my winzip files. Not paying $54!!! Thanks so much!!!

First off, try File Explorer, right-click the file and choose Open with and File Explorer which has some support for .zip format. If that doesn't work consider the file is corrupt, re-download if possible. Also download the free 7-Zip and install it, is actually a bit more useful than WinZip on some types of compression.

    Can'tmopen Winzip Files.

I bought 8 sets graphics. They can't be be aren't corrupted. My Winzip expired and they won't open unless I spend $54 on a new version.

I will try file explorer. What would happen if I deleted Winzip??? I have thousands of win zip files that's how they are delivered.

    Thanks Berton

I was going through the software I've saved over the years and have a set of discs with graphics and Fonts, unfortunately the images can only be opened by running a small program on the first disc.

    can't open zip files

I found a 30 day free trial. Explorer did nothing. There must be folks that don't have Winzip. What program on Windows 10 opens zipfiles??

    Anyone???

I've not had issues with the .zip compression algorithm but needed 7-Zip for a couple different formats. As long as the files have a .zip extension and are still good there should be no issue uninstalling WinZip and normally installing a new program that can work with the format will set it up but may have to still use Open with and set what is desired the first time to get the double-click to work.

Ouch! I looked at their website. They want $34.95 US per year for a subscription.

You could try WinRAR. I used it for free for several years but finally bought it. It costs $29 US for a perpetual license.

I bought WinZip v6.3 over 20 years ago when I was running Windows 98. It came on a floppy disk. One day I got a message that WinZip would no longer let you update for free. I found out that WinZip v9.0 was the last version I could update to for free.

What I do now on Windows 7 and Windows 10 is:
I run the 32-bit setup file from the floppy disk. I then have a registered copy of WinZip.
I then run the setup file for WinZip 9.0. I then have a registered and updated copy of WinZip.

No, you have thousands of zip files [not WinZip files].
    zip is a file type.
WinZip is an application that opens zip files.

I agree that 7zip is just as good as WinZip [and 7zip can apparently also read .wim files]
    but
do note that the WinZip annual subscription is for "WinZip Suite" not just WinZip itself, which remains a one-off purchase.

    All the best,
    Denis

7-zip can also open cbr, cbz and epub files which my last version of WinZip would not do.

I have an older WinZip version (23) so either something’s changed in a previous version or WinZip is corrupted somehow as I can still open zipped files. Is there any error message when you try unzipping a file? Have you entered your license details to unlock the program?
You can also uninstall WinZip & use Windows inbuilt zip utility.
