Sticking with 10 here, I see no reason to go back to a previous OS

It took me three tries but then it worked. Try again.
I ended up calling MS, they gave me another key because they didn't know why my valid key wouldn't work.

MS is being very good about that sort of thing right now. They gave me one for a dual boot of Windows 10 that should have worked without a key but didn't.

Thank's for the encouragement.....but I could control my XP....8.1 and 10 are more likely designed for the 'masses of the stupid' and I can understand that!

Wow. I can already tell you don't play well with others. You must be in that certain "elitist" group of human beings as Cbarnhorst pointed out, eh?

Have no Fn idea what that drive by was all about since I don't know you from Adam.

    Now with this....

    Windows 7,8.1 10....humanity under control. - Windows 10 Forums

...I can now demand to come down from that cross! We need the wood!

I was successful with full recovery in 8.1.......and shut off 'windows update' immediately there after....never had one problem. 8 months later, now 3 weeks ago, I downloaded and installed the 'new' Windows 10. So far everything works 100%. But.....I see now with 10, I no longer have the option to shut off updates, even if I wanted to do so. I did find a way in to see updates installed, but no other means to manipulate it. With no Windows 8.1 or 10 greeting, or departure sounds...like XP, 2000, 98,95 did have, the 8.1 and 10 experience seems less personable and without human character. If Windows 10 becomes problematic, (knock-on wood it doesn't) A big Macintosh Apple might taste sweet.....I miss XP.
In reviewing your posting history it sounds like 10 is indeed problematic for you. Doesn't sound like you're happy with MS OSs anymore. You may be better off with that elite Apple crowd.

I refuse to be old and stupid but still can't see connection between my age and an OS.

And I may be slow and sullen, but yet dull, but at 73 I am also enjoying my new OS mightily.

Thanks guys, ya'll make me feel young again! I'll be only 50 in November, but it explains why you know so much about Windows-- you had a big head start My first "contact" with a computer(not PC) was in the 4th or 5th grade on a school trip to the Boston Museum of Science. Something from Digital.
