    TaskMgr Disappeared from SystemTray

I like to have TaskMgr running and the little window that show more green when the cpu ramps up showing.

Recently that disappeared. It's not in the little popup part either. I tried flipping the switch for it off/on. Didn't help. I ran Shawn's reset and it didn't help either.

I did flip a couple other icons (like Norton 360) off/on and those worked.

    Suggestions?

Did you try SFC Scannow at a CMD prompt?

Task Manager does not have a shortcut unless you created one. Try Pressing CTRL+Shift +Esc to start the Task Manager or right click the Taskbar and choose start Task Manager, or Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and start the Task Manager.
If you upgraded to Windows 11 try the first option.

    thanks

Actually sfc did seem to fix it. It still hadn't shown up. So as I should always do, I rebooted 'just cause. And it's back. It wasn't the reboot as I shut down every day and schedule startup in the morning. It had been like this for probably a few weeks. So I'm pretty sure sfc did fix it even though it claimed it didn't do anything.

I schedule TaskMgr to start up a minute or two after boot. I've never figured out how to start it minimized so it sits there staring at me when I first come to the computer. I min it pretty much first thing and hide when minimized.

I'm waiting on win11. I use openshell and it sounds like that isn't quite there yet.

I have never managed to get Task mgr starting already minimised to the SysTray [only] upon boot.
The best I can get is starting it minimised to the Taskbar [and the SysTray] upon boot so I can then double-click on its Taskbar icon to clear that so leaving it in the SysTray only.
Start Task manager minimised [to Taskbar not System tray] my post #16 in TenForumsTutorials

dalchina wrote a small file to do the whole job but I did not like a side-effect [needing to right-click & Restore its window then minimising it again so that it would then respond to normal double-clicking to restore its window].
launch Task mgr minimised to SysTray [dalchina exe post #18] - TenForums

My Task mgr icon does occasionally fail to appear in the SysTray for reasons I have never understood but a reboot always makes it behave itself again.

    All he best,

i use OpenShell with Windows 11. To use it with 11 you can't use the Windows 11 start button, you have to use the OpenShell Start or Classic with the Shell icon, other then that it works like it did in 10.

    thx

maybe give it a try in august when I have time. Unfortunately I have to do it on this PC (my main) as my sandbox won't run it. Nor either laptop.
