    I'm sorry, I don't get it.

I have reinstalled Win10 several times in VHD cause I was having issues with getting it setup for VHD Boot on my Surface Pro. Which I do have setup now and it is excellent.

Not one single time did it force me to create a Live account to log in, like it did in Win8.
ONLY a local account was created by default, every time.

ONLY when I tried to access something like the store did it want me to switch to a live account.
That is exactly how it is supposed to work. And it does.

I will call it 8.2. A bit slower shutting down / starting. I know its early days. Feels a little bit smoother to me.

This works the same as it did in Windows 8/8.1, you can create a local account. You just put in a bogus email, and when it fails it allows you to create a local account.

Again, this works just like Windows 8 (and Windows 7 actually). To start a second instance, you have to right click on the jump list, then click on the application name (typically at the top of the bottom grouping) or right click on the application name and choose open or start as administrator.

Well, it would help if you didn't make a lot of assumptions, like you've just done... particularly about stuff that is working EXACTLY the same way as it does in Windows 8, or Windows 7.
Agreed. But I think it may happen quite a lot. I have, so far, found very few "new" functions and, as you say, perhaps users should be cautious regarding assumptions, without checking if those same items did not already exists in Windows 8.

LOL. Maybe the forums will now be flooded with comments "I going back to good old Windows 8"

One thing that has occurred to me. Maybe a Start menu users can answer?

I customised, and became a dedicated user, of the Modern start menu. As it happens, I am not a great fan of using items from the store, but, for those who are doing so, wont that new start menu take up quite a lot of real estate on the desktop, if you do, indeed, have a lot of "Apps"?

P.S. Later. OK. I have been fooling around a little and now find I can right click and "Unpin those icons. They are still available in the "All Apps" of the new start menu. Nevertheless, I see little benefit in cluttering the desktop with that Icon menu option

Is it possible to make the start menu simple, so that its more in line with the W7 version of it? I for one is not a fan of the app mess they have going, and I have a feeling that the Start Menu will be a pain to work with - at least for me :)

    Hi and Welcome to TenForums,

If you just unpin the apps that are showing you should only be left with the standard start menu, is that what you mean?

All of the Windows 8 installs and now Windows 10 I have done, and I have done quite a few, would attempt to make you create or use the Microsoft Account logon. Only if you installed while offline would it just give you the option of a Local Account.

I only run desktop systems, and have no experience with the Surface unit.

You can always create a local account regardless whether you are on or offline, just click the link saying create new account and the click the link to create a local account.

You can't make it exacly like Windows 7, but you can right click your taskbar>properties>Start Menu>Custimze>remove/add what you want as entries. First thing I did was add "Control Panel" to it because PC Settings is useless ._.'
