    Lenovo Laptop Hibernate (?) issue?

So I've had a 'situation' with this laptop for almost two years. It's not a bug but a setting. But it does bug me, lol. I finally remembered to finally look into it. And what should have been simple (as usual with Windows) ain't.

I have four PCs in my house. If they're asleep, you hit any key -- and it reawakens and brings you to the login screen. Except the Lenovo. It simply shows my how charged my battery is and goes right back to sleep. So then I have to slip my finger on the side and find that subtle power button, hit it, and wait like 6 seconds. Man I'd like to eliminate that.

So today I (finally) looked into turning off hibernate. The thing is it wasn't turned on in the old school CONTROL PANEL settings. So........................................ how do I make this laptop behave like the rest?

Thanks for any and all help. And I'm so embarrassed I can't fix this myself.

Hi, on your Lenovo, what does this report?

    (Hibernate is disabled on mine)

And C:\hiberfil.sys should not exist of course ( hidden file).

Further to dalchina's perceptive post, here is a comparison for you - a sample response by a computer that supports "S0 Modern standby"

    Thanks all.

I went to the Control Panel area and clicked something that allowed Hibernate as an option. Like so --

That's the new shutdown menu now including HIBERNATE. I left the CONTROL PANEL window looking like this --

    Now to address Dalchina --

The issue appears to be resolved. But in a way that makes zero sense.

Now that I have HIBERNATE in the shutdown menu -- SLEEP is working as desired.

    1. If I put the unit to sleep, screen goes black and the lit keyboard goes out too. Wait a minute. Click any key, LOGIN screen.
    2. If I put the unit into hibernate, screen and lit keyboard go out. Wait a minute. Click any key and I'm briefly shown the battery status before it goes back to black.

That looks as if hibernate is enabled but not functioning as it should.

    I suggest you try this:

    From an admin command prompt:
    powercfg -h off

    then
    powercfg -h on

and check your power plan settings.

Enable or Disable Hibernate in Windows 10

As hibernation uses a large file on your disk, also check your disk for issues:
Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) - excellent.
    If ok. then run
    chkdsk c: /scan
    from an admin command prompt.

Are your hardware drivers & Bios up to date?
