I don't think its a matter of monitor setup and I have single monitor. Keeping all settings doesn't fix it. You either have to reset with delete all files and settings option (In Windows Drive) or restore to previous point where there was no issues with folder view and desktop icons.
Playing with Nvidia driver by turning second screen on and off somehow saved desktop icons partly.

Hi, I have this problem too. ( I have Eset AV too)
Today I got first W10 update for the first time after the problem has started (Update:KB3087040)
But I couldnt install the update. It gave an error 0x80004005
When I searched this error code, I saw its about the permission of changing the registry.
I think Windows cannot change the registry therefore windows cannot remember icon positions and folder view settings.
I hope you find the solition. I dont want to reinstall windows.
yeeah you are absolutly right! I have same error in windows update. And I remember my system crashed when the update was coming, and after the crash problem is here !

For what it's worth, I definitely have the problem in question but the Count key is filled with stuff similar to how yours looks (though different values.)

    Attachment 38870
Thanks someweirdguy, can try importing it & see what happens; hoping the symptoms are reproducible. I can easily identify the particular bit related to auto-arrange, and similarly the explorer folder view settings. We'll see..

Now I finally know the problem. Try to check everybody if you have error 0x80004005 in your Windows update. This error is changing registry values. And it seems when registry tried to change values, ESET/NOD somehow bugged it/stopped this action in the middle of it === and the problem is here. This error and NOD was always causing it in the past for users WinXP, Win7... But now we have Win 10 = different registry, there is no help yet.

You mean the update KB 3087040 right? That is related to IE and EDGE browsers.

But if Eset doesn't allow changes to registry then why should problem with folder view and desktop icons occur? Also that why that update has things related to folder view and desktop icons?

My update history is clear now and I don't know how it happened. Installed updates only show in control panel but KB 3087040 is not there. I could check newer updates but that damn thing has bad drivers for my pc, especially via driver and it doesn't allow me to de-select. I have installed old drivers which work fine but again windows update wants to install new drivers. I have disabled get drivers from Windows update but it still does! How stupid move M$!

Today I couldnt wait anymore and I used onekey recovery (Lenovo laptops feature). It installed initial version.(Windows 8.1)
There is no problem so far. Now I am updating to W10. I am sure the problem wont come back. Because I wont use Eset anymore to the end of my life :)
