As for me, this problem does not change my opinion on the product. I'm running my protection with Eset for a lifetime, at least 18 years and I've never had a single virus.
And it's light, does not require special knowledge, even the basic setup runs smoothly.
I work at the PC 12 hours a day and I surf the web anywhere
Same here Lio apart from the fact that I've only been using ESET Nod32 for 11 years. Never let me down though.

I had the icon problem with Win 10 build 10525 and never even thought that it could be linked to ESET. I just ran a system reset and the icons were fine again and still are on build 10547.

The only downside to ESET at the moment is that they still haven't sorted out HIPS to work with any Windows 10 build after 10240. However ESET Nod32 version 9 will be out in several weeks time and they say they will have fixed the HIPS issue in this release.

In another computer that have this problem, first i tried to uninstall the beta version 9 of ESET NOD32 but during the uninstall process it fails to uninstall.
So I suppose that to run the file run_64bit.bat the ESET version should be uninstalled right?
How did you manage to uninstall it?
I tried even in safe mode but its not working.
    Thanks

I uninstalled from the Control Panel then rebooted. Next I ran the ESET removal tool with Admin rights and had no problems.

    Hi Zash
    may i ask you a question ?
    have you tried PsTools (technet.microsoft)?
if you extract psexec in a folder for example c:\test
    and run this command as administrator Start "" "C:\test\psexec" -i -d -s c:\windows\regedit.exe
you should edit the registry without any privilegies
I just tried it now and it only works if I set "PsExec.exe" to run as administrator. Same case with SetACL.exe.
The only advantage of SetACL is that it doesn't open new windows.

Sorry, I'm not familiar that much with PsExec. Are there any advantages of using this?
If there is, I'm gonna edit and upload the updated files.

    Try uninstalling your ESET first.
    1. Download http://download.eset.com/special/ESETUninstaller.exe
    2. Boot to Safe Mode
    3. Uninstall ESET using Control Panel
    4. Use the ESET Uninstaller Tool
    5. Restart normally

After restarting, if you encounter a problem with your network adapter (LAN/Wi-Fi)
    1. Open Network and Sharing Center
    2. Click on "Change adapter settings" found on the left side
    3. Right-click and choose Properties on the adapter you are currently using
    4. Uninstall the one with ESET on its name
    5. Click OK

How to boot to Safe Mode
    1. On your Start Menu, click on Power
    2. Hold the Shift key on your keyboard then click on Restart

The black screen with a cursor is actually color gray.
If this happens, just chill out and wait because Windows is still loading.
If you want to speed up your boot up process, try removing the unnecessary startup items and please do schedule a time to defrag your drives.

My sentiment exactly!! I have run ESET several years, and not one virus. It updates more than one time a day if needed. It is written in machine language code and makes it very fast. I'm still running ESET. However, I only have Windows 10 on my work computers, not of my choosing. I have Windows 8.1 on laptops and desktops at home. Not a thing wrong with 8.1 and this issue of moving icons seems to be endemics only to Windows 10

IT WORKED! Can't believe it's finally fixed

The .reg files didn't work for me as they were giving me permission issues (I guess), but I booted into Safe Mode, and did the manual regedit method. Changed permissions for both keys, followed the steps, and rebooted.

It works awesome, and yes, ESET is THE BEST. I've been running ESET for almost 10 years now, and I've NEVER HAD A SINGLE VIRUS. The only reason I've had to reinstall ESET is because I upgraded and changed machines :P

This was just a minor setback and is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to abandon the BEST ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM one can have :)

Hats off to vkaraoke for figuring it all out and posting it here. Thanx a lot buddy. Your effort is really appreciated :)

This is my first post here, and this forum seems like a nice place to stick around :) Am sure with windows 10, something else will go wrong and I'll need help with it in the future :P
