    Reg file :ActiveX/COM Issue LocalServer32\C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech_O

    CCleaner finds this file and can't delete. Is this an important Windows system file? Unable to delete.

    ActiveX/COM Issue LocalServer32\C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech_OneCore\Common\SpeechRuntime.exe -ToastNotifier HKCR\CLSID\{265b1075-d22b-41eb-bc97-87568f3e6dab}

    Problem?

    Code:
    ActiveX/COM Issue	LocalServer32\C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Speech_OneCore\Common\SpeechRuntime.exe -ToastNotifier	HKCR\CLSID\{265b1075-d22b-41eb-bc97-87568f3e6dab}

    Problem?

    I have noticed that you haven't had a reply to this so I thought I would try to help.

    Unless you know what you are doing, or have a serious Registry corruption problem, you should never delete anything from the Registry. It does not increase performance or speed.

    If you do however go ahead and want to change the Registry, it is highly recommended that you back it up FIRST . . .

    > Export and Import Registry Keys in Windows

    Better still, create a System Image. Information and videos are available if needed.

    I searched Google for quite a while for you, and didn't really find anything that useful. I did however, find these . . .

    > Ccleaner register errors keep returning
    > URGENT: Infected SpeechRuntime
    > What is SpeechRuntime.exe?

    I hope this helps.

    I'm having the same issue, although I haven't been tingling around, I did turn off Cortana through registry, but this issue has been showing up again and again through CCleaner.
    Any help is appreciated! :)
    Things I've done prio to this:
    sfc /scannow
    DISM.exe /Online /Image-repair /Reporthealth
    But to no avail, but show my Windows is okay and operating good :)

    @jm44jg39

    I just had the same exact problem with the same file in CCleaner. It appeared with the last Windows Update (.782)

    The only solution I found, was to go into the registry, to that exact entry, give full control to my user account, and delete it.
    It hasn't returned since.

    I do not use Cortana at all, so keep that in mind.

    My issue with this started here, in post #75 and ran intermittently to post #93

    KB4598291 CU Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.782 and v20H2 19042.782

    ...it drags on for a few pages, until I just decided to delete the registry entry.

    I only deleted the LocalServer32 key, located here...

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{265b1075-d22b-41eb-bc97-87568f3e6dab}\LocalServer32

    /edit

    After this registry surgery... both
    sfc /scannow
    and
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    ran with no issues.

    I've tried everything and taking permission over the registry, but it doesn't let me, may I know how you deleted it? I logged in through admin account as well, but with no luck ;_;

    Unfortunately... I didn't take any screen shots while I was doing it. I had to go "deeper" than just taking permission though.

    I remember this much though...

    I went to Permissions, then clicked on Advanced, then in the window that opened, at the top... the Owner was Trusted Installer. There, I clicked on Change, and after that, I honestly don't remember, and can't test, because I now OWN that key... so it no longer looks like it did, when I was taking ownership.

    Two things though...

    1. Make sure you back up the entire HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{265b1075-d22b-41eb-bc97-87568f3e6dab}\LocalServer32 key before you try this...

    2. Go very slow... and don't try anything unless you are fairly sure it will succeed, or until it makes sense.

    Most important of all... I had a full OS image backup, before I tried any of this.

    /edit I'm truly sorry I can't be more specific. This was my very first time for "taking ownership" of a registry key.
    I didn't do it all at once either. This all happened over 3-4 days.
    I was sitting there one night and I thought... hey, I bet if I do this... etc., it will work.
    It did.
    Now though... it all looks like greek to me... again. :/
