start button behavior win7 vs. win10

    • in win7, pushing the start button and typing would bring up (immediately) a list of hits among the installed programs.
    • in win10, doing the above retrieves search results from the internet (with some latency), and only then brings up any installed programs (with even more latency).

Is there a way to make Win10 revert to Win7 behavior in this respect?

Click on the Search Box, then settings cog, then disable "Search online and include web results".

Thank you. I may look very stupid now (and most likely that's the reality) - but I cannot find any such settings in my rig...

Same here, I don't see that option either...

One of the first things I do after installing Windows 10 is
to mark off these two annoying features!

Note that you have to click the search bar, not the start button, in order to bring up the window you have screenshotted. Alternatively, start typing after clicking the start button, and then click the settings cog.
