Why is there a Fat32 partition in there? That may be part of the problem.

I have solved this problem, see my post here:
How to fix 100 disk usage in Windows 10 - Microsoft Community
I hope this helps you all.
Thanks for the info. In your case was your system hanging when you got the 100% disk usage??
I reverted back to windows 7 a few days ago so cant try your solution right now. I reverted after reading that the Radeon HD 4250 graphics card I am using is not supported in windows 10 and there is no upgraded driver planned for it. I had assumed that that was my problem!!
Regards
I solved my problem with a clean install ....................... no
2-3 days of running well got me excited, but during October tried all the things recommended in the posts and still have the problem. The acer machine I am running does not support windows 10 according to them, but microsoft seems to think its drivers should do the job. I am not going to try windows 10 on this machine again until next year sometime when a solution may have gelled. Meanwile I will run windows 10 on my ASUS desktop which runs very well, and try Linux UBUNTU on my laptop.

It's like Ullyses (James Joyce). :)
Or maybe he works for a telemarketing company.

Just wondering if you solved your issue? I have the same issue, but I am not really as articulate as you in terms of your original post which was fine for me, but evidently the some other readers could not manage in its written form....Same 100% spikes, often hangs when I am doing email, like clicking boxes to select emails to archive or delete. (I still run aol for some email, perhaps this is my problem)
Hi there,
I was wondering if you got anywhere with your high disk usage issue with windows 10? i'm having the same problem. Have disabled the WS Store service (plus a couple of others for good luck). I am wondering also if it could be an issue with my samsung 830 firmware...
Hopefully suspending the WS store service will help. Problem is the problem doesn't always occur. Often only present if hibernated and then brought back.
Cheers,
Tom
Some things to check for high disk usage:
#1 - drivers. Go to your motherboard/computer manufacturer's website to look for the best ones (examples are HP, Dell, etc). If they don't have them, go to your device manufacturer's website (examples are Intel, AMD, Nvidia, etc). As a LAST resort, let Microsoft update your drivers via control panel updates. Currently, MS set Win10 to auto-find drivers for you, and sometimes they are not the best ones.
#2 - Updates. Make sure you have all Windows Updates
#3 - Programs/malware. Make sure you don't have installed programs that are causing havoc or changing/customizing your OS. Also, scan for malware and remove it. Consider using Malwarebytes.org 's free MBAM program for an extra scan that often finds more than most AV programs will (the free one only comes with a manual scan).
#4 - speed up your computer. Remove any installed programs that claim to do this, and follow this tutorial on great suggestions on getting more bang for your buck: Optimize Performance of Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums
#5 - REMOVE your antivirus program, get a faster one. Avira or Avast! have been tested as quite fast, though recent good reports about the built in Defender AV means you probably will be just fine using that with a monthly scan of Malwarebyte's MBAM free.
#6 - Check it! Go into expanded Task Manager, click the Disk tab under Processes, and see exactly what programs are causing the speed increase.
thanks Dusty. it seems to be the app store service, although it's tricky to catch as the task manager hangs while the disk usage is at 100%. I'll work through some of those suggestions and see what gives. also planning on cloning my Samsung ssd c drive to a more recent hardware version.
