Windows 10: You don't have permission to save in this location.....

Still no joy! All the permissions are checked for administrators except for advanced permissions. I can't see how to modify this, since it is greyed out. I've gone to 'advanced' and it is still greyed out.

My most recent idea was to reinstall Windows 10 again, but that has not helped. The problem persists. Thanks Ricorp for all your help. Do you or anyone else have any other suggestions?

(this is basically the one described in Option 4)
Step 1: right-click drive C and choose properties
(no step 2 or 3, as shown in Option 4)
Step 4: Choose the 'Security' tab and click the 'Advanced' button (somewhere below that window)
Step 5: The 'OWNER' of the drive/folder will be explicitly stated there. If it does not state 'Administrators', then you have to change it.
It's all there in Option 4, believe me. The one you tried is Option 3 and is more for the advance users who are comfortable with such.

After the owner has been properly set, then you can 'play around' with the permissions per 'user profile' or 'user group' (in the box just below the 'Owner'.

EDIT: There should be a backslash after the colon symbol but it just does not appear in my post. I tried to use putting 2 backslashes instead but the final post still did not show it even though it appears on the preview. *confused

Reading your post, Okay, For the C drive, I went to advanced, security tab, and there are 4 different listings, highlighted is "administrator[WAYNELCHRISTIAN\administrators"...In the advanced tab at the top, there is: Name C:\, then under that is, Owner "trustedinstaller" with he Change option next to it. I cannot do anything, downloads, save photos, files, etc.... Please advise. I am familiar with using the registry to make changes, if that means anything. Thanks for your time. Appreciated.

What is your current user name?

Please take a picture of the "properties" window for each folder I mention, I am interested in the security tab only. The folder: Users, your user that you are logged into, and the downloads folder.

My user name is Jake as shown in the screen shot Capture and I've shown two of the others. The User one has my email on it, but is the same.

Downloads also has my email on it. I'll send this blacked out if really needed.

I have noticed that for Jake (user) and Public Properties, the ticks under allow are not greyed out, they are for Downloads and Default Migrated, not sure if this is significant.

On the pictures that you just submitted, can you click on advanced button? I am interested in knowing the differences in your actual folders. Where we are having trouble saving documents. Take new screenshots. Black out the email that will be listed under OWNER, black out the emails listed under permission entries. Thank you for taking the time to uploading the images :)

If you are unable to black out the names, you do not need to upload images.

it solved all of my issues in just a few clicks.
I didn't see my name under "Group or user names", but selected "users" anyway, after which it did show more clearly. Changing permissions to my user solved the issue.

Thanks, these are the images from the advanced tab and I've blocked out the email, so all four are now here.

The owner for downloads on my system is not Administrator, this should be changed over to Jake on your end. Having it set to administrator will make it hard for anything to save documents there by default and will likely give you constant User Account Control popups. I can now say without a 90% certainty that your issue is related to permissions. Other 10 could be corruption, bad hardware or weird anomalies that happen on rare occasions. By default you are not administrator all the time in windows, you can switch back and forth between Admin that is the point of UAC.

Same problem here. Gosh this is such a fundamental thing: inability to access your own documents.

Surely it's up Microsoft to fix this?
