I get the jerky scrolling in Firefox, but not in IE 11 (Desktop). IE 11(desktop) is very smooth and actually quite bit faster then Firefox though I use Firefox 90% of the time.

I use chrome most of the time and it seems to be real smooth.

You might want to checkout the firefox channels and test out the beta and aurora which are future versions of firefox they may or may not be smoother.

I haven't been in this thread category to see new threads, so the delay.

The scroll is choppy with IE11 on this forum software on this machine. No choppiness on 8F, although there the scroll will freeze every once and a while. If I refresh (F5) it works > Go figure.

I'm not a "mouser". On any forum I'm looking to get to the bottom of the page so I simply push the End key, then arrow up a bit or Page Up once. That works for me.

The forum software is different here according to z3r010 compared to 7 and 8 forums although I can't find the quote now.

Seems it doesn't like IE. I tried Chrome and Pale Moon and they are OK.

Yeah we are using xenforo, carrying on using vbulletin like we had for our other sites was no longer an option as the company since being bough out a few years ago no longer have any long term viable products.
Actually I couldn't remember where you said that the forum engine was different - I remember a post where you said the support for whatever company does 7 and 8 forum software wasn't up to scratch so you chose a new one. Quotes work fine :)

Edit - found the quote although not exactly what I remembered

This forum engine seems to be the new thing. At the PCHF (our new forum) they use it too. It's OK as long as there is not a lot of traffic, but the other day I had 17 alerts at PCHF - then it gets a bit confusing. I think the 'likes' and other ancillary things should not be shown in the alerts.

I just think of the alerts as my "subscribed threads". I can work my way from the bottom of the list to the top. It's just something you get used to, like here

Yeah, right. If it were only the subscribed threads that would be OK. But mixing all the 'likes' and points alerts into it is confusing. It it worked like 'User CP' it would be better. Then the alerts you read would disappear after you dealt with them. But they linger around forever.

That's what you get for getting so many likes
