Well, I hadn't shut down my PC in a very long time. And when I just did it, it only took about 5 seconds. :) (With AVG still active.)

However, I have to say, on this system, I have disabled Hibernation completely with 'powercfg -h off', this could also be why it shuts down so fast now.

Before, I had the same thing happening to my system as you showed in your video. Maybe it is a combination of Hibernation and AVG. I'll let you know tomorrow, when I have tested it on my laptop.

Yeah turning the Hibernation off will temporary solve the issue. So yeah, think they do clash or something. Please do get back after you have tested it.

If you want, i can send you a link to an AVG where there is no zen with it.

    Thanks

    You nailed it!

Just tested it on my Laptop and got these results:

Shut down with AVG + Hibernation activated -> 40 seconds
Shut down with AVG + Hibernation disabled -> 8 seconds
Shut down with AVG removed + Hibernation activated -> 8 seconds
Shut down with AVG removed + Hibernation disabled -> 5 seconds

So, it's very obvious that there is a conflict between AVG and the Hibernation option of Windows.

I think I will send these results also to AVG, maybe they can look into the problem and fix it.

Glad to hear that :). I have been using AVG for years and shame now i have to change because of this. Please do send them that info. I have no clue how to do that lol. Hope they sort it as would love to go back to AVG. Do you have any recommendations for an Antivirus?

    I'm trying out Avast.

    Thanks

I'm a paying customer of AVG, for years now, so I don't really have a recommendation. But I do know that Avast is also a great option.
