Renaming This PC (aka My Computer)
I would like to use a different name instead of This PC so that in the path it looks like (new name)>Local Drive>... How can I edit it and is it safe?

Right-click on the This PC 'folder' in File explorer & select Rename. I haven't seen reports of any side-effects.

"Right-click on the This PC 'folder' in File explorer & select Rename" is all you need to do.

PS You should only ever need to use the Registry when 'relocating' user folders [Documents, Music, ...] if you have made mistakes that cannot be corrected through the user interface. But you might have been referring to relocating the whole C:\Users\%UserName% folder in which case I understand that you would need to take special action including Registry changes [I have no experience of this - Change Name of User Profile Folder in Windows 10].
Look at this: go to settings, system, scroll down to about, select about......on the right hand side, scroll down to "Rename this PC" and click it and then input desired name.
The OP is trying to re-label the This PC entry in File explorer.

1 If this is wrong then please post back to explain what you really want to do - without taking any action until any confusion is resolved.
2 It's your PC so I have focussed on helping you do what you said you wanted. I have omitted the very subjective comment that I do not think what you want achieves anything.
