Renaming This PC (aka My Computer)

    The "This PC" label is easily changed from the desktop and is safe. It is just a label for the users convenience and Windows and applications don't use it. Internally Windows uses a large number to identify such things and you can't change that.

    Yep, open File Explorer, right-click This PC and choose Rename. It probably has an 11 or 13 character limit just as the HDD/SSD/Thumb storage drives have and if a character is not allowed there will be a warning pop-up.

    That is correct - "this doesn't mess up with registry and/or other system elements".

    In case it makes a difference to you, the default position for 'This PC' is alwasy top left on destkop which has often helped me find it on a cluttered screen. If you rename it, it loses this 'reserved parking spot' and obeys the normal Windows order of alphabetic placement, Depending on your chosen name it could then appear anywhere. I also wanted to to rename mine until i found that doing so made it ver hard to locate afterward .
