    Also, another thought:

If modern apps will be windowed in Threshold... What's going to happen to Internet Explorer, too?
Keeping WMP is one thing, but having two versions of IE running in a window... That's going to be confusing as hell. I've already heard there are some plans for a UI change in IE12, but...

MS should add a keyboard shortcut to allow 50% height snapping (stacking) of desktop windows (like the side-by-side snapping).

It needs to be reliable (like the side-by-side snapping).
The "Show windows stacked" option doesn't work properly on my W7.

Me too. We pretty much beat the horse to death.

Perhaps we fanbois will be disappointed and change to Linux.

I really hope that W9 is an improved upgrade from W8.1 rather than from W7, which is already an outdated OS.

Just a note about that: Windows 7 is the predominant OS for the business world. Just like XP was predominant until 7 was in full swing. Businesses have a trend of skipping OS versions, and most skipped Vista and 8. I know I skipped it at my workplace by keeping us on XP, then keeping us on 7 (about 50 systems here, 30 employees I take care of).

I'm sure you are right about W7 being the predominant OS for the business world. But my hope is that W9 will be an improved version of W8.1, rather than a throw back to W7. I already have a disk with W7 installed on it, as well as W8.1, so unless W9 provides a newer and better experience, then I wouldn't have any reason to buy it.

    ^ this!

And assuming it's true that 9 will be the last major version of Windows that will just be regularly and frequently updated, moving away from 7 is not going to happen until 9 is at least a couple of years old.

Still, if that rumor is true and 9 is shaping up to be the Windows "of the future", expectations will be even higher than when we waited and speculated about 7, because so many people disliked Vista. MSFT has to nail Windows 9 right out of the bag and please the majority of consumers, give everyone everything and constantly keep improving and moving forward. That being said, it's surprising that the final release is only about 7 or so months away. Kinda scary, actually.
