That's true HG. If the cycle is anything to go by Windows 9 may well be awful...

    Ho hum...

If 8.2 comes into play and messes up the Win 8 series once more.. then the pattern is still valid... :)

I would like the basics to work as good as 3rd party programs work.
    Examples:
    *Backups and imaging.
    *Defrag
    *Search/ all aspects
    *Disk management
*File and folder management the way the owner wants it to be.
Their are many more that users get 3rd party program to do a job that should be built into Windows with the same ability and quality.

    I do agree.
Removing things without left overs and not hurting the system.
Who should know how to do that better than Microsoft?
Windows does not like to hurt Windows so it would be the safest way.

I just want MS to stay the hell out of my computer, and out of my wallet, once the initial purchase has occurred. Oh, and stop treating me as though I was a 14 year-old Farce-booker and not much more.

I'd like to see Metro Apps remember what monitor they were last opened on and what screen size they were last used at, and open to those on launch instead of full screen.
I'd like an option to disable the Start Screen auto arrange so the tiles don't have to be 2 plus 2 etc. Let me arrange them like you do Icons on your Desktop.
I'd like to be able to span the Metro Start Screen across multiple monitors.
I'd like to be able to change the Tiles background color.
Do not automatically create a Homegroup during install, or at least give a yes or no option.
An actual Shutdown tile would be nice. And a tile for the Desktop version of IE.
The ability to easily download install media/ISO file without having to jump though hoops or resort to trickery.
