"I'd like to be able to easily arrange the Tiles on the Start Menu the way I want them."

As WHS says, it is tedious, but it works. Excuse the poor quality - I resized down in a hurry.

Wherever I am - one click and I am in my start menu (Metro). One click more and I have the program I need. Otherwise a quick swipe to the right for the remainder.

I've got mine the way I want it, but like you guys say its tedious. It shouldn't be that hard to arrange the Tiles. IMHO the auto shuffle is a PITA and should have an option to be turned off.

Just wanted to add. Yes, it can be tedious, but not too much involved after the first customisation.

Quite truthfully, in earlier OSs, after I had installed my software, I usually extensively arranged the Start menu to a way I liked it. In folders and subfolders.- Took me longer.

Yes I agree, once you do your main sort its not so bad. I still think it could be improved on though. I really like Windows 8.1 and would like to see it become even better. I'd like to be able to have say a group of 4 tiles and then put another group under that (with a space between them) instead of having to start a new group beside it, or lumping them all in one big group. It's just that I think the Metro start screen needs better customization options. As the title of this thread says "What would you like to see in Windows 9". That's what I would like to see.

Look I quite like 8.1 in 7 (no panels) style it is fast and easy to use but I would certainly like to see some stability in what they are putting out because the constant changing from OS to OS is getting VERY tedious not to mention causing a lot of division amongst those of us who are Windows fans.

I don't see this fast release cycle continuing with 9 like it is with 8. IMHO the 8.1 update was to fix any problems or perceived problems with 8.0. 8.0 wasn't selling so they made some changes to hopefully make it more palatable to those that didn't byte the first time around. I didn't like 8.0 all that much but I do like 8.1 and I'm running it on all my PC's.

Hmm speaking of Start Menu, Start Screens and grouping.. I'd like to see something like RocketDock built into the Taskbar. With a bunch of "category" folders where you can name the category, select custom icon, then just grab a whole slew of icons/tiles and chuck them in there without the dance. This stuff has been around so long now it should only take maybe 15 minutes to break out the icons into categories if the system didn't fight you at each step.
