How Do I Open a Logitech Video E-Mail on Fall Creators Edition?

Hello, everyone. I'm using the Fall Creators Update edition of Windows 10, 64-bit.

I have a couple of old Logitech Video E-mail files. In previous versions of Windows, I was able to launch these files and view them. In the current version of Windows 10, I cannot.

I've tried the Troubleshooting Compatibility option, with no success. I've browsed the Logitech web site for troubleshooting tips, but didn't find anything. I've Googled the subject, without finding anything relevant.

So, I've come here. Does anyone here have any suggestions about opening a Logitech Video E-Mail file on this version of Windows 10?

Probably a 16bit exe on 64bit architecture issue...

Well, you've been waiting a long time to watch those videos, it seems. From that thread it seems they are 16-bit .exe files. My first thought would have been to try and extract the video with 7-Zip or similar, but appears you tried that already. Others have said in that thread that there may be an option in the exe to dump the video as a file. So you need a 16-bit environment to run it in.

DosBox is a 16-bit environment. See if you can run your exe in DosBox, at least to extract the video. Here's one 16-bit app running in DosBox, Windows 3.11....

Bree, your post inspired me! But I must confess...I didn't use DosBox. I used Virtual Box 6. And it worked!

It took a bit of research, time, thought, and effort, but it worked. Here's what I did: After installing VB 6, I installed an old copy of Windows 7 32-bit (I save everything) as its guest. After doing a little bit of tweaking and configuring, I managed to get the file inside Windows 7. Once there, I configured the file's compatibility mode to Windows 95.

Voila. The file open and ran. I got the video and audio. It played a tiny bit sluggishly, but I got it. I could probably get it to play more smoothly if I reset the memory a bit higher. For now, it's adequate.

Thanks for mentioning DosBox. It's what triggered my memory of Virtual Box, which I have used before, but not lately.

Glad to have inspired you @jdanniel. Now that you can play the video, the question is does the .exe file have any option to export the video as any form of normal video file? If so, the option is now available to convert it to mp4 or something else more usable.

I don't see any option for that, whatsoever. I installed WinRAR inside the Windows 7 guest and tried to extract something from the exe file, but couldn't. I even tried loading the file in Handbrake, just to see if it might be able to convert it. No.

So here is my plan: My plan is to use screen capturing software to capture the video and audio while it is running inside Virtual Box. There are several screen capturing programs that should be able to do this. I have to do it in real-time, which is annoying, but once it's done, I'll be able to play the video on pretty much anything.

On possible option, if it is available. Do you get any sort of menu if you right-click on the video while it is playing? If you're really lucky there may even be a 'File > Save as...' option?
