Sometimes, you have to start over. And it takes some time. Windows had reached the point where it needed to be rewritten, but rather than do this all at once, it's happening in much smaller steps.
Hmmm.... not sure about that. The last MAJOR rewrite of the core elements of Windows was Vista. Vista; W7; W8; W8.1 and W10 are in a very real sense all versions of Vista. When MS makes significant changes to the core of Windows they change the Build number as follows.....

    Build : 4.0 Product Name : W95
    Build : 4.1 Product Name : W98
    Build : 4.9 Product Name : Millennium
    Build : 5.0 Product Name : W2000
Build : 5.1 Product Name : Windows XP
    Build : 6.0 Product Name : Vista
    Build : 6.1 Product Name : W7
    Build : 6.2 Product Name : W8
    Build : 6.3 Product Name : W8.1
    Build : 6.4 Product Name : W10

The name of the Build Number was changed from 6.4 to 10.0 prior to the release of W10. But Build 10.0 and Build 6.4 are the same Build, with different names. The name-change was incorporated so as to enable developers, who rely on the actual Build Number, to recode those elements within their software to refer to 10.0 (which makes more logical sense) than to 6.4.xxxx.

1 - gibberish, Windows 10 removed the annoying charms, you have mouse and keyboard access to search, task switch, settings, notifications right from the taskbar.
2 - assuming you talk just about start & taskbar icons - it's really no contest in readability over a black background.
3 - agree, I always hated not having an option to go directly to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections. It's a shame, really.
4 - the old Control Panel is just one right click over the start button away. It's neat and looks really good. Not as good as the new one...
    5 - agree
6 - Explorer is a nuclear white since Vista. At least now you get useful quick access shortcuts. You want to better manage your files? Get a filemanager like Total Commander or alternatives!
    7 - gibberish
8 - As intended. Upgrading to major OS versions will always leave old hardware behind, that's why you need to pay attention to the upgrade advisor. My experience is completely different: 10 served me full feature drivers for my Logitech webcam, atheros lan, realtek audio, nvidia gpu unlike 8 and 7.
9 - gibberish, 10 flies on all 6 systems I've put it (3 were in-place upgrades from 8.1). Maybe you should try a clean install next time.

+1 Cortana = meh but the new search is so damn neat
+2 nobody forces you to use multi desktops, but it's finally here for all to start using it. Not every competitor offers integration with the task switcher
+3 gibberish, the new start menu is on par if not better on usability, speed and looks with Classic Shell. Once you remove all tiles and shrink it :)
+4 agree first thing I did in Edge was to search for firefox
    +5 agree
+6 blasphemy! Proper text selection, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, transparency - new cmd rocks!
+7 agree, disabling tiled apps and the whole store is the first tweak I apply
For the rest, I would just point you to paint.net, Process Explorer, TotalCmd, Open Broadcaster Software (even if the xbox thinghy does actually work ok). No comment on the Win+PrtScr ?

Overall score: 5 - Rant failed!

I also reverted back to Windows 8.1 because i was getting random freezes all the time even after doing all the "fixes" such as sfc /scannow, defrag HDD, updating all drivers to the most recent ones etc.

What is it? Windows or Hogwarts? Do I really need advanced spells and charms for such basic tasks? Besides, it doesn't get me anywhere near custom colours. All I could do was to pick one from predefined 15.

So far, I disagree! The Windows 10 Pro Upgrade was a wonderful experience here. All drivers and apps worked right from 1st boot-up and yes I'm still amazed how fast Win 10 boots onto the desktop. I'm coming from Windows 7 and completely skipped Win 8 so Windows 10 represents updated/included features which were not included in Win7. I was hesitant with upgrading since I'm running an older (5 years) custom built Asus P67/2600k system but ALL drivers installed via device manager, including printer/scanner, Bluetooth, wireless Logitech mouse/keyboard, camera, USB hubs & external drives etc...For sure I probably won't use all the newer apps/features but I'm now confident running a current OS. Maybe if I was already on Windows 8.1 I wouldn't have such a renewed experience. I now can't wait to perform a clean install once I find the time over the next few weeks while waiting to ensure everything is running smoothly under Win10 before a clean install. Obviously reading indicates many have serious issues (drivers and/or apps) on Win10, but so far I have dodged that bullet. I had no plans to spend countless hours making Win10 work and was ready to rollback to Win7 in a heartbeat.

People have been predicting that for the last decade, and it hasn't happened yet. MS stock keeps going up because MS profits keep going up. That has not stopped, nor will Windows 10, even if it's a total market failure stop it, because MS doesn't make much of it's money on consumer OS's anymore.

I mean, come on.. How much innovation have you seen from MacOS X in the last 5 or 6 years? ChromeOS is even more basic and scaled back than 10 is. So, which OS exactly are you going to be using to take you to Mars? Linux? Don't make me laugh. If Linux developers wouldn't stop reinventing everything they might get somewhere.
Don't ya think this helpful error message could be considered as de-innovation- like i said made by 3rd grade mentality ??
