Start up problem after update -- BSOD & wait

Power on shows manufactures logo And now proceeds to a bluescreen Please wait that never finishes. Early attempts got be passed password entry but strange warnings about desktop & profile & then empty desktop except task bar & recycle bin . Now can't even get to windows start up splash screen !, No boot device on a USB as I was trying to update a new computer before making one
Any possible moves to try ?

Yes, that's a good idea. If you have access to another PC you can use the Media Creation Tool from the Download Windows 10 page to build an installable USB Flash Drive (UFD) for you. Do you know how to get your PC to boot from that drive? If you're still using an HP, you may find this support item helpful: HP PCs: Configuring the Boot Order in the System BIOS.
Good luck with your repair efforts.

See what Reliability History entries there are,if it is possible to open.Appears to be file corruption and you could try sfc /scannow and dism.If nothing is accessable, then a clean install might be the only viable option.

    Two choices.
    1 get a friend to create a boot stick,e.g. Kyhi's or similar.
    2 Do a clean install.

    Perform the following steps:

    1) Power on and repetitively click the F2 key
    2) Open the HP BIOs UEFI diagnostics > run the available tests
(The default tests are RAM and HD unless you upgraded)
(If you had upgraded there are extensive and loop until failure, component, etc)
    3) Report into the thread the tests performed and the result]
    4) If possible use a camera or smartphone camera to take a picture or the results and post an image into the thread

    5) Find two flash drives that you can format:
    a) for the first flash drive (> or - 8 GB)
    b) for the second flash drive > 4 GB

    6) On a working computer create a bootable Kyhi boot rescue flash drive with the smaller size flash drive
    7) On a working computer create a bootable Windows 10 iso with the larger flash drive

    8) Use the Kyhi boot rescue flash drive to backup any important files to another drive or to the cloud
    9) See if you can download and install the HP Diagnostics Windows: (right upper area of this web page)
HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Official Site
    10) If you were able to download and install HP diagnostics windows while using Kyhi boot rescue then run:
    a) system tests > system extensive test
    b) components tests > storage
    c) Use the snipping tool to post an image of the test log into the thread

    11) The bootable Windows 10 iso can be used for troubleshooting:
system restore, startup repair, command prompt commands, reset save files equivalent or clean install
