getting the page button to work as home and end

i just got this hp probook 430 g6 pc and it does not have the side buttons for the home pg up and dn and end buttons. it has them in the scroll and pg up of dn and i think when you hold the fn button they are suppose to do home and end, but they do not.

is there a setting i can change to get them to behave as home and end when i press the fn key?

also i use the chrome browser and when i have the fn key pressed it seems to like to do a caret when i push the f7 key if i have the fn key locked on and want to change the volume i get that darn caret message. how can i turn that off? some are saying chrome will not allow that. i tried the regedit and going to a setting that is not there on my pc, some maybe there is another work around. thanks

"HP has also shrunk the size of the ProBook 430 G6’s keyboard compared to its predecessor’s along with its case. The dedicated navigation keys, which were placed to the right of the Enter key are gone are and have been merged with the right-most Function key and the arrow keys."

if you use the fn key and arrows ?
also is keyboard set to "english-us"?

if you use the fn key and arrows ? i have fn lock the is part of the left shift key and if i press that along with the fn key the fn key lights up a little lamp in the key, but that doesn't seem to make the pg up and dn work as a home and end set of keys. it seems to work a bit better if i leave it unlocked but still not a home and end.

also is keyboard set to "english-us"? the keyboard is in english us. when i set up windows that was the choices i picked.

i would like to get the pg up and dn to behave like a home and end set when the fn is locked in. and as pg up and dn when the fn is unlocked or at least scroll. thanks

Some research suggests that you might try toggling the NUM Lock key.

When on you can use the keypad numbers, when off you can use the directional keys such as page up and page down.

According to the manual Num Lock alternates between the navigational and numeric functions on the integrated numeric keypad.

    See page 39:

    Is this the one?

If so, according to the manual num lock location depends on which keyboard layout you have. So check the left side image:

wow i did not think i of the numbers embedded inside the keys. but i do not need to work them it is the page up and down and the home and end i need to get to work better. i would like to get the page up and down to work without having to hit 2 different keys at the same time. now i have to hold the fn key while working the pg up or dn key and then they behave like pg up or dn i sure would like them to work an=s home and end during the fn key press or the fn in the locked configuration with hitting the left shift and fn key at the same time. thanks

Well it's hard to figure out. I guess that they are not intended to work that way. Maybe someone who has the same model might read this and advise.

On old machines I've used Keytweak to remap keys but dual/ triple function keys would be problematic.

Example. I have up/ down arrow and also PgUp PgDown. So it's possible to remap up/ down arrow.

    So like this for example:

getting the page button to work as home and end-keytweak-1.jpg

getting the page button to work as home and end-keytweak-2.jpg

Downside is that you need to have spare keys that you won't need to use.
