Windows 10 freezes randomly

Finally this solution worked for:
Replacing an old HDD with ~5000 RPM with a new one with ~7000 RPM. (I used Acronis to Clone the HDD, so everything is as before)

I had a similar problem after I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10.......random freezes requiring a hard reset. I read elsewhere on this thread that the hardware monitor program 'Speccy64.exe' caused the problem for several users. So I uninstalled Speccy64 from my computer 6 days ago and I haven't had a freeze since then.

However, since I like this program, I am going to try a clean install of Speccy64 and see if it will now work without freezing my computer.

I too am at wits end... I have been struggling with this for a month and NOTHING I do has any affect. Below are more details, but the short of it is I replaced the Motherboard.... no change... replaced the CPU.... no change... I ran memtest.... all is well and even swapped the chip locations..

My system is randomly freezing. So far I'm not really taxing it. Just browsing, email and such. No games, movies etc.. It will freeze sometimes while sleeping where I can't wake it. It's very VERY random, or at least I can't find a pattern.

Things I have tried/checked and it should be noted NOTHING I did had seemingly ANY affect of making it better or worse.

- I have checked the event log and cleared/corrected any issues.
- I disabled everything in Device Manager that wasn't being used. No conflicts.
- Swapped USB ports of kboard, mouse and wifi adapter.
- Updated all drivers, even went as far as purchasing DriverAgent.
- Some errors in System Log were due to invalid scheduled tasks, those were all cleared.
- Ran CCLeaner any time any changes were made.
- Ran HWINFO all temps and speeds, everything really, normal
- Updated BIOS
- In BIOS Switched any CPU/Memory tweaks from AUTO to MANUAL and left them at their defaults.
- Set Processor Power optimization so min and max were 100%
- REPLACED THE MOTHERBOARD
- REPLACED THE CPU
- SWAPPED THE MEMORY Chip LOCATIONS
- Ran MemoryTest

There are generally NO system events in the log leading up to any freeze. It just freezes. I have tried to force the freeze running benchmark software and the like. It passes all tests fine.. no affect on random freezing.

Short Story: Installed W10 on a kinda old Laptop (MSI CX500). And guess what, had the same issue as alot of u guys here.

I will be keeping a close eye on this. Just executed the disable dynamic ticks command and rebooted... kinda had to, cause just a few moments after the command... it froze again..

I'm currently running almost as barebones as possible. I do have two monitors, one is HDMI off the board and the other HDMI off the dvi jack. The only other things plugged in are mouse, keyboard and cat5 cable.

Well that didn't last long. I disabled dynamic tick, rebooted, and was just surfing and looking at some youtube videos, nothing heavy as usual.. and it froze. However, I notice that my PC is running much smoother. Most obvious is audio. While listening to a youtube video if I clicked on something that caused a system sound to "bing" it would stutter the audio, that is gone. Videos used to buffer more too before starting... not they start instantly. I am even checking ones that I watch often. So that's the good news.

As far as changing power settings, I have made every possible change available from performance settings to just setting everything to manual (leaving the default value in places) and not ever sleeping or turning anything off......... to full power saving and everything in between. It does not seem to have an effect whatsoever on the freezing.

In the process of typing this post the computer froze again... so this time, on a lark, I decided to unplug one of the fans. I have the standard CPU and Powersupply fan and two chassis fans. One of the two chassis fans is directly off the power supply tail, the other powered off the motherboard for chassis fan. The one off the motherboard always registered at spinning at 4000+ rpm while the others are 1000 or 2000 (of course no control over the one off the power supply tail). Anyway, I'm monitoring temp and it doesn't seem that was needed. I'm wondering if the fan was putting an extra load on the motherboard.... I'll post back.
