I discovered the random freezing I was experiencing was due to an unsupported wifi card & driver.
This started after an update. I tried a system restore - that didn't help - I had tried to update all drivers - that didn't help.
Turned off wifi and all was good - after a week of hell I now just have to buy a new wifi card.

Uninstalling Acronis True inage 2014 has not cured the Freezing - No record of Event 129 in event log, the only critical event is Event 41 caused by the hard reset. Running out of ideas of where to look to find out what is causing the lock ups

UPDATE: Was checking over some known issues, and happened upon a driver update link for amd or intel. Double checked the amd link, since I had already updated my mobo drivers (asus with amd sb, and amd cpu). Downloaded the latest amd catalyst, and installed. Tried to lock it up with a few websites that have given me issues, and it didn't freeze.
Poor call on my part, should have been more thorough with the driver updates. Guess this ties in with my driver update programs rant ;P. Any further issues, I'll be sure to post. Might be my last attempt with windows 10 on this machine.

    Original post:
After the uninstall of office last night, I was hoping I had solved the issue.

Going back through the thread. My issue isnt marked with any errors being logged, which makes this even more frustrating.

I've completed the system scan via command prompt, and no issues reported.

Only idea left is removing java, or at least disabling it.

Oh, and FYI - expect adware to be downloaded if you choose to download those driver update programs. Never a fan of them, and just reinforced my dislike. Drivers it discovered that were out of date we're false reads, in a sense. Can only update one per day, unless you pay. Of course there's going to be a few necessary updates. (update: and it didn't catch my out of date and driver)

I found this thread because I was getting random freezing when using the computer, and random freezing when my computer is not in use and in an idle state. I have my computer set to performance, and nothing is set to go idle but only the monitor and it would randomly freeze all the time. I was very frustrated, and decided to try a few things on this thread, and it appears in my case that it was the swap file that was causing the issue. I forgot that I had a custom swap file, and it appears this was causing the issue, because when I changed the value to a higher state the freezing vanished. Perhaps playing around with the swap file may fix the issue for some of you as well.

What did you settings did you use for the page file size? Initial? Maximum?

I am not sure if this has anything to do with the freezing issue but looking at the event viewer again I notice the following at around the time the freezes occur:

Can anyone help me understand exactly what this means?

    Many thanks

All my drivers are up to date and i don't see anything in Event Viewer besides windows not being shut down properly. Has anyone found out a working solution.

Perhaps it was the reinstall of the AMD chipset directly from AME's website? I haven't had any freezes since.

Same problem here. All drivers and firmware are up to date.
Interestingly the freezes mostly occur while sound is being played back (e.g. You Tube, games or Skype).
Also, once my NAS was woken up from hibernation in the exact same moment the computer froze. Did anyone else notice something like that?

When you say "all drivers are up-to-date" do you mean that Windows 10 tells you that there are no new drivers (in driver properties)? Try freeware Driver Booster and DriverMax, they will find TONS of outdated drivers. According to your description, your videocard driver is out-of-date.

Did you perform system file check? Also please see the long checklist here:

Why do you think so? The latest version from the Nvidia homepage is installed.

I did now. It said errors have been corrected, IŽll let you know whether it helped.
