Hi, many thanks for the answers on here!

This worked for me however when i'm not plugged in, my laptop restarts, the screen comes on and then the laptop dies. It doesn't appear to want to start at all after this, even though the battery has charge. This doesn't happen with a Dell Genuine battery but I have another replacement battery and it happens on this. Can anyone think of a suggestion?

    Many thanks,

    Jack

These are the drivers that I'm using:
Intel 3000 driver - Win 7/8 (source: Intel)

Dell Quickset - Win 8 (source: Dell)

Realtek HD Audio - Win 8 (source: Dell)

Free Fall Motion Sensor - Win 8 (source: Dell)

To make everything work you need to disable auto driver updates from Windows Update or they will just keep auto-updating to the non-working drivers.

Control Panel>System>Advanced system settings>Hardware>Device Installation Settings

    Then select:
"No, let me choose what to do"
"Never install driver software from Windows Update"
"Automatically get the device app and info provided by your device manufacturer" checked.

Then go to Programs and Features and uninstall the accelerometer, audio, video, and quickset drivers.

Finally, open each new driver you downloaded and extract them but then cancel them as soon as the install wizard automatically starts. Navigate to the extracted drivers (they default to C:\dell\drivers) and right click on each driver installer and set them to run in compatibility mode for Windows 8 (right click on the setup and go to Properties>Compatibility).

After setting the compatibility setting you can now install the drivers by right clicking on the setup files and selecting Run as administrator.

Reboot as necessary and enjoy a working L502x on Windows 10. I haven't found anything that's not working yet... MaxxAudio3 even works as it should!
Really appreciate this good work. Can I confirm that your webcam and mic are working? According to device manager I have no webcam and the mic is correctly installed but not working!

My Lenovo W540 was working fine with Sleep recovery until today. Would not boot and I had to pull the battery. I wonder if one of the secret updates was the cause? I originally loaded three computers with Win10 but went back to Win7 on two of them. My main concern was Auto Updates and the hustle for unwanted APPs (guess they have to pay for Win10 somehow). I kept it in this W540 because Lenovo had Win 7 Pro all screwed up with their software additions.

Dell XPS L502X issue with HDMI connected ACER H243H Monitor.

Thank YOU mrsmith988! I followed your directions and they worked great after the fiasco of going from Windows 7 to Windows 10. However, I have one glitch with my HDMI connected ACER H243H Monitor. My Laptop screen goes blank and I only see my mouse pointer on the Acer Monitor. If I switch to the Mini DVI to VGA connection, the Monitor and Laptop screen work great. Does anyone know of a fix?
    Thanks!

Just checked the drivers on my laptop and they are the Quanta driver 14/05/2010 ver 1.0.1404.1005 - works for me..

To fix the black screen after sleep I only installed the - STMicroelectronics Accelerometer (Free Fall Motion) driver 2.2.2.10 - just installed the driver normally.. link posted by mrsmith988 a few days ago.. post #27
Perfect! Thank you! Worked as a charm! Just installed the regular way STMicroelectronics Accelerometer (Free Fall Motion) driver 2.2.2.10. Nothing else and works perfect! XPS 15

My Alienware M14x has the same issue. Again Dell is very clear that this machine does not support Windows 10. That being said, I'd also say it has to do with the graphics. I have the Nvidia GT 555M, same gen as mentioned above.

I'm having the problem with sleep mode but it's not on a laptop (custom-built desktop). When I do this step, should I only use the Intel and Realtek Audio drivers?

Thank you for that. Working from a Refreshed install I was having the black screen after sleep issue on my L502x, but now I have everything working perfectly. I did allow Windows to update the Intel Display and Nvidia drivers, and as of Aug 21 these automatically installed versions are working fine for me:
    Intel HD Graphics v. 9.17.10.4229
    NVDIA Graphics Driver 355.60

For the sake of completion I would add Synaptics Pointing Device 15.2.6.0 (R293038) to the list of things to download from Dell (not the generic version), unpack and install manually in Windows 7 compatibility mode.

I'd like to turn automatic driver updates back on, but I'll definitely make a system restore point before doing that.
