A couple of things I've noticed with Win 10 - mostly good

A couple of positive issues.

Firstly, W10 is snappier than Win8.1. Okay, perhaps due to fresh install. But it does seem lighter and quicker.

Secondly, programs seem to install faster. Hardly a game changer sure. However, is this something to do with W10's internal architecture.

Thirdly, a couple of programs I use namely CorelDraw X7 and LibreOffice 4.45 behave better. For example, clicking on the CorelDraw X7 icon in W8.1 when CorelDraw was already open would result in two full instances of the program opening and running - a real resource hog. Now in W 10, clicking on the CorelDraw icon gets you back to the one open window. Far more sensible.

LibreOffice behaves better too as multiple windows are again a thing of the past.

Anyone else with any pleasant W10 surprises?

That Cortana needs to pay attention...

Every time I move my mouse away from that box, it turns off.
Not very intuitive...

Microsoft asks for my email and password in Cortana...
To double check that it's really me it sends me an email with a verification code.
It asks me to enter the code...
I open my email, copy the code but by this time Cortana has already slipped into a coma!

Pathetic! About as well thought out as a gay pride march in Russia!

Next...

Nobody who works at the Windows 10 development department at Microsoft has ever owned a computer with an NVidia GPU.
If they had, one of them might have thought to test how well the Windows 10 installation would work with one of them.
A shambolic disaster and yet another example of Microsoft with it's head up it's arse focusing on things that normal people don't give a flying fff... make love about!

Finally...

Automatic updates - whether or not they work or even if you need them...
Who on earth thought that this was a smart move?
And how on earth did that brainiac manage to convince the rest of the development team to go along with it?
Blackmail. That's the only reason I can think of.
Or, the person who thought that simply adding more and more updates to everything without even checking if they worked must have some serious hypnotic powers on everyone else who thought that this was gonna be useful and popular with users!

What are you talking about? I have 5 different PC's running NVidia GPU's and they all work perfectly. NVidia has dropped support for some older GPU, and I've heard they don't yet have support for some very new ones in the Windows 10 driver, but for the most part this works great. Even so, it has nothing to do with Microsoft as NVIdia is the doing the support.

You are completely ignoring the fact that the way updates work now is totally different. By the time an update gets to the general public, it will have been tested on some 5 million computers and vetted. This will make bad updates all but a thing of the past. If you're an insider, you may get a bad update, but that's your job.. to be a canary in the coal mine. That's the price of getting the code early.

Microsoft has also released a tool that allows you to permanently disable specific updates if need be.

Well, Microsoft has plenty of tools, that's for sure!

I have also noticed the default sounds lot lower the win 7 and all my volumes are up anyonevelse

Everything having to do with regular windows is much improved, not one complaint, everything having to do with the modern side is a complete disaster
