    Xbox controller

    Hello again!

I have a Xbox 360 controller and a Xbox one controller for my pc. I'm running 8.1 but have reserved my win10 copy already. Are the controllers finally going to work the right way with win10? My 360 controller never works and my X1 controller works only with some games and always encounters a runtime error. Both are wired by the way. Thanks!!

I've used an official (wired) X360 controller, which worked fine, and am currently using an XB1 controller connected via microUSB that works absolutely perfectly. You may have to install the drivers for the XB1 controller before using it though. I had issues with the triggers not working correctly if I didn't install the drivers before using it.

I have done everything I could possibly do and it's still hot or miss. Are you running win10 or 8.1

    Xbox controller

This is the error that I get with my x1 controller. My 360 controller doesn't really work ever.

EDIT: They are both official Microsoft controllers.

Hmm...I'd try uninstalling the X1 driver and then reinstalling it. If you still get that error, try reinstalling the Visual C++ runtimes.

Ok thanks I'll give it a shot. You know, when I go to Microsoft's website to download the x360 drivers it doesn't have them for windows 8.1 or maybe it's for the x1. Either way, am I correct in downloading windows 7 64 bit if I have 8.1 64bit?

I didn't have to install any drivers for the 360 controller. The Xbox 1 drivers I use are here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-o...-compatibility

Yes, you'll want to download the x64 drivers.
