Xbox app doesn't find Xbox One anymore

I've been using the Xbox App for the past year that Windows 10 has been out with the XB1 with no problems but since recently a certain update (I forget if it was a Windows update or Xbox update) and the Xbox app can't find the XB1 anymore and I found an answer online to change the device name on the console from "XboxOne" to something else so I did "XB1" and it restarted it and the Xbox app found it and was able to connect but a couple days later it was back to square one unable to connect to the device and I renamed the console back to "XboxOne" and it worked again... and then again unable to connect so I renamed the console "TekBox" and it worked... for a while. Even when it does find the device, it can't turn the console on like it used to.

I uninstalled the Xbox app and reinstalled it via store and the same problem persists, is there an AppData somewhere that clears the settings in the Xbox app somewhere?

Is the XBOX in power save or quick startup mode? I have mine set to Power Save (full shut down) on shutdown and I can't turn it on from the XBOX App in that mode. I have no problem connecting once I power it up manually though. My PC and XBOX are fully up to date. XBOX connects via WIFI. I haven't changed its name from the default. Not really needed unless you have more than one on your network, as far as I know?

I hae it set to quick startup and it always worked to turn it on via the Xbox app but not anymore. Even when manually turning it on and having it log my account in, the app doesn't find the console until I change the console's device name. It's connected via wired to the router same goes for my PC I'm using it from.

I don't know what to tell you? If you open the XBOX App, then go to the Connection ICON (just above the settings icon). Under More, there is a "Forget Console" option. You could do that, remove any and all you find there. Then setup your XBOX from scratch.

Hopefully I got it fixed, changed the power settings back to energy saving and turned it off and turned it back on and I was able to connect via app and then changed it to quick power on and turned it off and now I'm able to power it on via the app and connect. Perhaps it was an error in the XB1 update that prevented it form working correctly for me.

I think there is a full shut down option in the menu someplace, that will do the full shut down even if set to instant on. There is a reboot option too. I have games that will not launch correctly if I set mine to quick start. I got tiered of having to do a reboot just to play them so I switched to the full shutdown power save mode.
