    Xbox One controller not connecting

I have been using an Xbox One wireless controller with USB adaptor with Windows 10 on my laptop. This morning the operating system was updated. Now my controller doesn't connect. I am guessing the update erased the previously installed Xbox One controller driver. I have tried using a mini USB cable to connect my controller to my laptop. Nothing has worked. Please could someone explain how to update/reinstall the driver if that is the issue. I can't din anything that helps elsewhere, as the new update seems to have changed some of the settings. Thank you.

I don't have the wireless adapter for my XBOX ONE game controller, but it works fine for me when connected to my PC with a USB cable. Windows 10 Education Version 1607 (build 14393.187)

24 hours later and it's working

I needed to reconnect the controller as though I had never used it before. I did this by pressing the connect button on the side of the wireless adaptor and by the port on the controller. This reinstalled the driver that I think was uninstalled when Windows updated.

That's good news. If I use my controller on my PC with a USB cable, it automatically unlinks it from my XBOX. Then I to basically do what your did. Press the link button my XBOX and the one on the controller.

That will likely continue to happen randomly. It did with my controller and wireless adapter. Eventually I switched to the bluetooth Xbox One S controller and have had much fewer disconnects.
