If your specs are what ur gaming with a G force 540M isnt exactly a game card it cant even play the newer Sim city games at 1080p . What are trying to play on it anyway ?

TBH a PS4 or X Box one would give you a lot better game play but then you would be a console slave ☻☻

I wasn't paying attention and didn't stop to think the Geforce 540M was a laptop dGPU it's not like you're going to be stuffing a 150 -300 watt gaming dGPU in the average laptop . ☻

Have you tried the latest Nvidia reference drivers for your GPU ? OTOH sometimes even win 7 drivers can work better you never know with a new OS . might want to look in taskman and see if there are any unusual apps or background processes using up hdd,ram or CPU if you haven't already maybe look at your start up processes in taskman also .

I'm using Win 7/vista drivers for my sound card the ones Windows picked out for it corrupted the OS and I had to format/clean install on Insider build 10029 back in Feb.

I noticed my games were taking much more time to load after I updated, not to mention the framerates get spotty at times. The games I play I run at 60 fps solid so when there is a big dip believe me I notice.
same here.. most notible game i see this change in is Archeage... been trying to diagnose the massive performance hit i got in that game. i could run it very well with barely any drops or stuttering.

now im getting quite alot of stuttering and frame freezing as well as in certain areas that i know i could pass through without any problem, is now giving me major problems in terms of loading in etc

first i thought it was my GPU and drivers... Nope!
changed back my 3D settings for my graphics card via the control panel... Nope!
then found the game was oddly going to 100% disk usage (Like alot)... checked and seen pagefile was also a cause.

at this point im also 100% certain that "System and compressed memory is a direct cause for this"

Windows 10 is now ruined for me in certain areas

mmm bummer .... I'm playing SWBF @ 1080P/60 ultra along with Crew and some other games fine on the HP p7 i7 2600K ,16GB syst ram box with the Nvidia 2GB GTX 680 dGpu & G27 wheel or a game controller or KB and mouse on 10586.14 it's a 7 x64 licenced upgrade not a W10 10586 upgrade /W10 11082 dual booter daily driver like this one .

well its certainly caused alot of problems for me... my friend is on 16gigs of ram and his System and compressed memory is running at 12.7MB's

meanwhile mine is running at 127.4MB's and this is for general browsing.

i had no issues playing my games that i played just fine before the update yesterday... now i feel like this process is partially responsible,

i know it is because because whenever im running a game like archeage for example.. that SACM process (system and compressed memory) is hogging up a good chunk of 400-600MB's of ram while my game is running normally at around 300 (when alt tabbed) and around 600-900MB's when playing.

and for the system that im on thats pretty bad.

would also explain all the page filing that occurs during this time, which causes very very bad performance through housing zones in that game. zones i know i should be fun running through with barely any hiccups. yet i get consistent severe frame drops and even the game freezing to catch up on its self!

127 MB of VM is nothing in the virtual memory store even on 4 GB of ram it shouldn't negatively impact anything. The Windows 10 virtual memory compression store shouldn't be depreciating gaming (or anything ) and if you have at least 1GB of vram that's enough to frame buffer 1080p/60 for a lot of games.

The reason you are using a bigger compressed virtual memory store than your friend is he has more unallocated ram at any given time it's actually a benefit for a system with less ram not a negative .

FWIW the virtual memory store & compression hasn't changed in W10 for a good while since one of the 105xx builds .

The Windows compressed virtual memory store is small and reduces much slower hdd read/writes when it's active. As I understand it ,it takes less priority than system ram ... IOW If you have a shortage of RAM, the virtual memory compression will not be used anyway.

Have you used a detailed process analyser to look at the running system as a whole and during the affected gaming ,it's unlikely the V.M. compression is the issue ......It sounds like a HDWE bottleneck or core function scheduling or something else or things like unneeded processes or services or unneeded startup processes running in the background that might have appeared with the latest upgrade and have you disabled Onedrive in startup and running processes they turn it on each time you get new build ☻

Maybe try turning off notifications ,live tile notifications and uninstaling UI apps you aren't going to use and looking at running and startup processes or maybe installing another 4GB of Ram even if you have to borrow it from another PC temporarily . W10 x64 likes 8+ GB ram but it runs reasonably well (to a point) with 4 GB.

    good luck
