I'm finished with the updated version. All you need is NSudo or PowerRun to run the script, using TrustedInstaller permissions.

    1. Extract the ZIP file.
    2. Run NSudo and open a CMD shell.

For unknown reasons, the script gets a permission error when I use PowerRun. PowerRun has no problems running my script on W11, but glitches on W10. NSudo is therefore required for W10 users.

    3. Run RestoreGameExplorer.bat

The script will install the missing Game Explorer DLL's, update the registry, backup your imageres.dll.mun file, run Resource Hacker to add the missing icons, and launch Game Explorer folder when done.

If you never ran WinSAT to create a Windows Experience Index score, the script will kick it off for you. You will see Explorer folders and taskbar disappear for a second, since Explorer needs to be killed off to release its hold on imageres.dll

A backup copy of \Windows\SystemResources\imageres.dll.mun is made, in case there's a problem.

OK, I'll try the updated version on the VM.

I did that on my VM, and it worked than your other tutorial! Thanks!

I will be planning to do this on my real PC one day.

And how do I fix the shortcut issue?

The process ran successfully but I have only an empty Games folder.
Do I now have to install the games?
Will the display of game statistics be available?

This script only recreates the Game Folder, you'll have to install your own games (like the Windows 7 Games).
Game statistics does work for them, but I don't have any non-MS apps to check if they work too.
