    DosBox Shortcut

I have Star Wars Dark Forces installed & was wondering if this is possible.

To start Dark Forces, this is what I usually do:
    1. Open DosBox
    2. Type Mount C C:\<game directory> (Enter)
    3. Type C: (Enter)
    4. Type Dark (Enter)
And then the game will start

    My question:
Can I configure a DosBox shortcut that when clicked, will automatically type-in all those commands & start the game?

Yes you can, go to the folder where dosbox is located and open the Manual. you will find this:

AUTOMATION: Do I always have to type these commands?
In the DOSBox configuration file is an [autoexec] section. The commands
present there are run when DOSBox starts, so you can use this section
for the mounting. Look at Section 13: The configuration (options) file

Your shortcut should contain the following, including the quotes:

    "<Dosbox drive:\directory>\DOSBox.exe" -exit "C:\<game directory>\DARK.exe/.com"

This is the shortcut I use to launch Wing Commander Privateer (I use a separate CONF file for each game):

    "C:\Users\User\My Apps\DOSBox\DOSBox.exe" -exit -conf privateer.conf "C:\Users\User\My Apps\DOSBox\privateer\PRIV.EXE"

The -exit parameter is used so when you exit Dark Forces Dosbox automatically closes.

    Thank you for the replies.

    Sven1458:
I read through the DosBox Manual.txt file & DosBox Options.bat file, but I couldn't fully understand them.

    ClippyBeer:
Using your Wing Commander Privateer shortcut as an example, I substituted my own Dark Forces information.
Success. Dark Forces now starts when I double-click its shortcut. Both game & DosBox exit when I exit Dark Forces.

    Thank you for the help.
