No drive H after restore. Need help!

Did a restore with a W10 repair disk using a previous restore file.
The H drive (1tb) is now blank. Can read and write to it but all previous data is missing.
Is there any way to restore this data?

Followed direction on W10 repair disk. Used a previously used restore file that worked fine.

Hi, searching the forum suggests this:
Solved Files and Folders Not Showing on External Devices - Windows 10 Forums

However you may prefer to try to use data recovery software first to see if you can save files to another disk, as the least destructive possible action.

Note: in writing anything to it at this point you are potentially overwriting your own data.

You could start with Recuva. I think there's a tool on Kyhi's boot disk at the top of the Software and Apps section in this forum.

Five Best Free Data Recovery Tools

And there are plenty of commercial ones, often given away. Free trials of those often scan but don't recover (much).

It might be more interesting to try data recovery from a boot disk, as this avoids any peculiarity Windows has in viewing your disk.
