add video card to Acer Aspire AXC-704G-UW61 desktop ?

This thing has a small adapter, not a power supply, that looks like a laptop adapter. The output is 19volts at 65 watts.

According to Acer's forums, I can put a low profile video card in it. I don't think my 1 gig NVidia video card will work in it.

The desktop case has two DVI outputs. And a card slot that supports the pciex16 video cards.

I would prefer under 100 dollars.

    Thanks !

Check out this Newegg search: plenty of low-wattage, half-height PCIe cards available for under $100. I've had good luck with the 7xx Nvidia models in my wife's mini-ITX PC (e.g. EVGA GeForce GT 730 $65).

eVGA recommends a minimum 300W power supply for the 02G-P3-2732-KR. They don't list an actual power draw for the card, but other GT 730 cards draw a maximum of 65W.

I believe that a 65W PSU won't be adequate for a 730. Has anyone on the Acer forums added a discrete graphics card to this model?

You're probably right. If minimal power consumption is the overriding consideration, then a lower powered card is probably called for. You might need to go back additional generations in the Nvidia and AMD/Radeon product families. Here's an (older) Spiceworks post that talks about a 20W item. Not sure if it works with Win10, tho...

PS: the best half-height reasonably capable low powered "modern" card is probably a half-height version of the Nvidia 750Ti Goes for $110 at Newegg and draws 60W (still too much?)

You have a SFF (Small Form Factor) desktop. Great to save space on your desk. However, to add stuff to it is a bit tricky.
You will need a Low Profile video card, a few years old at least. You can find these on Ebay or Amazon rather then NewEgg which deals in newer stuff.
You may also want to invest in a low profile PSU. But now we are talking about a new/used computer for about the same price.

I have a GeForce 220 or 210, but I believe its a 300 watt PSU requirement card. I don't get any output from any video output when I plug it in.

    edit:

It looks like I'll have to wait until after January, 2017 anyway. The IntelHD chip works fine for Everquest MMO and Campaign Cartographer 3+ just fine so I may not need a video card.

Well, the message at the top said to make a new post if not related to this.

    Its related.

( My apologies for taking so long to work on this problem. )

I looked for, recommendaton on the Acer official forums, and purchased a GeForce GT 710 video card. Reviewer on Amazon said it should work. Another reviewer said it worked with their computer which was also an Acer Aspire xc-704g. But there were additional model information after that. My apologies for not writing it down.

Had to get a mini-hdmi adapter so I could use my regular hdmi cable to connect to my monitor. The specifications were incorrect, I submitted an 'incorrect product informaiton' claim to Amazon about the connector size.

As far as I can tell, my computer didn't boot up. It doesn't make much noise when it does, I did hear the same noises, just no video.

However, I didn't have the video driver for this card installed. I have since downloaded the video driver from the maker, MSI.

I have a 90 watt power adapter as well which I have been using for several months.

Any suggestions on what to do if this still doesn't work ? I'm thinking about returning it.

    Thanks for your help.

    After 3 years? Impressive.

All that I can suggest is clearing the CMOS (also known as resetting the real time clock). I have had to do that when changing graphics cards.

    Good luck.

Well, I didn't want to create a new thread, and people say 'why didn't you the OP reply to the first one ?

    And thanks.

I checked in bios and there was no CMOS reset. So I shut down the computer, removed all cables, adapter, mouse, etc. from it. Opened the case.

Removed carefully the cmos battery. Waited about a minute. Put it back in. Took out one of the 4 gig DIMMs, leaving 4 gigs in there. Probably not much difference in current draw, but maybe it would help.

Physically installed the video card. Plugged the video cable into the regular hdmi port, plugged mouse, etc. back in.
The cpu fan comes on, the light on the power button reluctantly comes on.
No sounds otherwise, the fan on the video card doesn't come on. No video. I did listen for beeps , none. No flashing on the screen.

Waited about 2 minutes, powered it off. Unplugged all cables. Took the video card out, put the extra 4 gig dimm back in.
It boots up, but only without the video card.

I have decided to get a newer computer. I have spotted one, but it is currently beyond my means at $430.00.

Thanks to all of you for your help.

If you still want to mess with this,
There is no setting in the Bios to Clear the CMOS. Here are steps\
    Acer Desktop Computers

    Step 1:
Disconnect the power cord from the back of the Acer computer.

    Step 2

Remove the case cover and attach an anti-static wrist strap to one wrist and to the case frame.

    Step 3

Remove the coin cell BIOS clock battery for one hour, or locate the BIOS reset jumper as indicated on the motherboard with the markings "CLRP1" and move the jumper into the "Clear" position for one hour. This is determined easily as these jumpers only have two positions, "Clear" and "Run" and they will always be found in the "Run" position during normal operation.

    Step 4

Replace the battery or set the jumper back to the "Run" position.

    Step 5

Replace the cover and power on the computer.
