Just disable them in the Device Manager as I noted. You don't have to "disconnect".

That would suggest one of two things. Either a problem with Windows, which would require a complete reinstall, or a hardware problem with the sound chip.
You may want to give the Dell users forum (desktop section) one last try.

Ok
Thanks for your help guys.
Try uninstalling the Driver by searching device manager and opening the app the go on Audio Inputs and Outputs right click on Speaker/Headphone (Retalk) and select uninstall. Windows will automatically try to install this. WARNING: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
Elias, if you read the entire thread, you would have seen the user has already uninstalled the driver, used the generic Windows driver, etc.
In the end I just replaced the motherboard. It was cheaper to buy a motherboard off ebay than to buy a new sound card.
Hello,
I’m using this rather old thread as it is a similar problem as I am experiencing. I’m struggling with a (not so very new) desktop computer with a Gigabyte H61M- S2PV board recently upgraded to W10 x64. Everything works fine, besides of the on
board sound Realtek ALC 888B/ALC887. The latest Realtek driver (According to Gigabyte 6.0.1.7553) for W10 x64
has been installed, the device manager confirms that sound should be OK and the on board sound is enabled in the UEFI.
However there is no sound. On W7 x 64 sound including speakers were OK.
Although working speakers (double checked!!) have been plugged in the Realtek control panel / driver refuses to detect that sound devises such as loudspeakers have been connected to the green output bus. The problem shows up in quite a few threads on several forums, but I could not find a working solution. Reinstalling the newest driver (6.01.8603) and even reinstalling W10 does not solve the problem.
The windows device manager and problem solver also keeps reporting that no output devices are found. Furthermore I could not find any mechanical problems such as wiring breaches. For the rear connections this can be excluded anyway,
as the output busses are directly soldered to the board. Also disconnecting the front output from the board did not solve the problem.
Does anyone know the problem and have a solution other than discarding the good old Gigabyte board? Is there any way to test the on board sound for mechanical / electronic defects?
Regards,
Dave
I had same problem with my Gigabyte (but AMD platform) MB a while ago. Uninstalled all Realtek drivers and installed original drivers from Realtek (the ones with .exe) and than updated them to last ones.
