OK to print Avery label page with some labels already peeled off

I couldn't find anything to answer this question using Google.

One of my friends says that you should not run an Avery label page through a printer with some labels removed because it will damage the printer. Is he right?

So I have 2 HP printers, inkjet and laser. I like to use Avery labels because they are priced right and there are Word templates available.

You're really not damaging the printer, but risking a paper jam. Depending on how many labels are removed, the sheet will have varying thickness and the rollers might mis-align. Avery labels are higher quality, but some cheaper label sheets don't like feeding through the printer twice (peeling off).

The real problem is nobody makes half-sheets. You can give it a try.

I've done it with both types printers. I've also had to replace the drum in a laser printer in a church where a small label got stuck on it and removal of the label left an unfixable/unprintable spot on the drum. On the laser be sure there's no labels partially peeled, sticking up. Also be aware that laserjets get hotter than inkjets.

Seriously... just buy some more Avery label pages. Why even risk it?

Save the one with missing labels for hand made labels.

I've done it on my Epson inkjet printer hundreds of times with no issues.

I have used sheets with missing labels on my Brother laser printer for years and never had a problem.
I am sure the next one will jamb it up just because I posted here.
