Couldn't see HDD after SSD reinstallation

I believe that I have this little issue solved but I'd like some advice to make sure there isn't problem lurking.

I've been having a problem with Win 10 getting corrupted. Making a long story less long, I've replaced my SSD with a new one and did a fresh install of Windows.

After the reinstall, I could see the SSD as drive C: in File Explorer but couldn't see my HDD which used to be drive D: prior to the replacement. The USB ports were labeled D:, E:, etc.

To fix this, I went into Disk Management and changed the drive letter of the USB drive D: to drive I:. Then, I labeled the HDD as Drive D:.

This worked but I got a message from Windows (lower right corner) asking what to do when the "removable drive D: was loaded".

The HDD obviously isn't a removable drive but it seems to work as it should.

Have I done the right thing or do I have a problem lurking?

My issue seems to be resolved.

I did have a problem with the D: HDD and the more things that I did in attempt to resolve it, the worse it became.

In the end, did another fresh install of Windows in the new SSD and formatted the D: drive in the process. (I had a good backup of the data on my HDD)

    Now all seems well.
