Before upgrading to windows 10 (was using windows 7), rapid mode increased the speed significantly. After upgrading it makes literally no difference (even in Samsung's own benchmark).

    • Still shows as enabled
    • I am running the latest version of samsung magician and have the lastest firmware too
    • My MB does not technically support windows 10
    • I can still see the background service running in the task manager
    • AHCI mode

I've tried updating a number of drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling almost everything. Anyone got any idea what could be causing this? Any help will be greatly appreciated

I have selected max reliability for SSD. How to disable it? ie keep finger off it?
Just go to the Advanced tab and set it to Window defaults.

    Wondering about firmware updating.
    Any advantage in doing this?
Yes, there have been updates to improve data integrity, one for security, plus sometimes improvements to the SSDs controller.

If you read all the threads, you would see that RAPID makes absolutely no difference in day to day use, all it is, if you read the RAPID Mode White Paper, is a prefetch substitute, that also writes to the disk. In another words, it's just Digital Voodoo(bunk).
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if your computer could “learn” your computer habits, such that it can actually improve your user experience? For example, if your PC could magically learn that you launch Outlook every morning and browse to your home page(s), it would make your e-mail database instantly available and make the home page(s) load faster. This is possible with the read acceleration technology in RAPID mode, which leverages spare system DRAM and CPU resources to manage a cache of “hot data”. System performance is improved when this hot data is automatically stored in memory such that future requests for that data can be served directly from DRAM, rather than going to the storage device. This improves the latency and throughput for the most active data, and directly improves daily user experience.

I have a Crucial MX200 500GB SSD drive in this machine. Is there anything special, other than just let Windows 10 do its thing, that I should do for it?

Actually, I did read all comments. What you dont understand is that not even Samsung Magician's benchmark is changing at all. While using win7 I could tell RAPID mode was on by looking at the benchmark, now it makes no difference. It's like its enabled but not really doing anything at all

Oh I'm sorry, I guess I didn't get the question.
So if RAPID is off your sequential writes are say... 540 MB/s, when you turn it on, instead of say 4150 MB/s it remains 540 MB/s?

Also are you using version 4.9.7?

@Wynona, Just make sure the firmware is updated, check the version on your SSD, then go here: Crucial.com - SSD support
