I'm waiting for this firmware update to show in my current Magician which it hasn't yet , says 4.7 is the latest now.

You have to download it, then install to get 4.8 fredc their is a link posted in this thread.
Look at post #257 for the link.

I have read numerous times that just installing it is taking a chance unless your actual Magician software shows that it's recommended , it should show that 4.8 is available and recommend in your actual Magician .

If it's not wait till it does show . 4.7 is working great for me at the moment , i could wait and i'm running Win 7 not Win 10 now anyway .

Magician works just fine on my hard drive, The OS don't matter this Magician is for your Samsung SSD. The major difference between your version 4.7 (which I was running too) is that in version 4.8 Rapid Mode is available to turn on!! On your 4.7 it is greyed out. This 4.8 is a lot better than 4.7 but its your choice, lots of us have already installed 4.8 nobody has any problems.
Magician 4.7 also told me their was no update and it was not correct!!!
Do what ever you want, 4.8 is a lot better than 4.7

Mike he's on Windows 7, Rapid works for him. The problem was RAPID didn't recognize Windows 10.

Bingo cliff , i'm on Windows 7 .

From what i see 4.8 only adds Win 10 support with "rapid" and support for Samsung's new 950 series model.

Fimware updates come out separately and those would be noticed through SM regardless of version. I had one for my 850 EVO a few weeks back. There's been no chatter on any other FW updates I'm aware of other than a recent one for the Pro line.
