Are you guys using .8454 on a pc with more than 1 sound device?
I don't know if it's Realtek, Nvidia or Windows fault, but seems like I can't easily switch between devices as before (like 2 days ago).

I have headset(wired to pc) and speakers(wired to monitor), but, for some reason, I can't switch anymore just clicking on the Windows sound icon of the Task Bar. Even selecting monitor, and so speakers, it still uses headset.
If I go in the Realtek app, clicking on the orange icon, it doesn't even detect more than 1 sound device.
The only way to switch to monitor, is going in Windows Sound Device Manager and change Default device.
Just to clarify: every device works fine. And even the switch worked fine before 2 days ago, when I updated Relatek, Nvidia (hotfix) and Windows.

EDIT: Ok, resolved. Everything works fine. For some reason, was just the "sound test" to not work. But in gaming and videos, the sound device switch works correctly.

I reinstalled my OS recently (Windows 10 Spring Update), and it installed Realtek's 7571 driver automatically. I decided to update the drivers as normal with the latest ones from the Windows Update catalogue, but since then the audio volume is much much lower than normal, even if I set it to 100%.

I've tried switching the output type from Headphones to Speaker in the Control Panel, I've tried deleting all the drivers from the DriverStore and reinstalling, I've tried reverting the driver to the one that Windows installed, and it still sounds lower than it did when I first reinstalled the OS.

What gives? I've had this issue before but a completely clean installation of the drivers solved it, but I've already done this to no avail. Last time I suspected it was a driver starting in a specific version that caused this, and you had to upgrade to an older one first to keep the volume fine, but I never confirmed this.

    Any solutions?

Yes I'm running it at the moment, I feel that soundwise it's not quite as good as 8447.
I agree. I gave it a try for a few days, but I rolled back to 8447... much better overall sound quality.

    Semi noob Q:

I have a gigabyte x470 gaming 7 .. with the alc 1220 [vb] chip (fine) but with the ess sabre dac (really cool but the gigabyte 8447s somehow killed the front speakers/front whilst with the computer being on!).

I had to use the Microsoft 8447 drives which kills the front audio jack(thus the ess sabre headphone amp) .. can i merge the the gigabyte 8447 with the latest genric 845x or later
