@ Almighty1 I tried uninstalling build 7708 using CCleaner uninstall. As you suspected it just runs the Realtek uninstaller which left all the registry junk behind.

I just installed 7712 which was very smooth with no problems. To my ears the sound using this build is up there with the best
I'll install 7712 on my next reboot and see what happens. Still on 7709 as of now and it works fine.

Version 6.0.1.7712 is now available from the Microsoft Update Catalog

    Just an FYI

Anyone know what the SST version is? It did not show up for me in previous releases.

I believe Intel's Smart Sound Technology. It seems Realtek only has SST for Intel chipset offerings. I could be totally wrong though, it's the first I've heard of Intel's SST.

Not really related at all to the drivers or anything but I'm curious if you or anyone else knows - why doesn't Realtek publish the latest drivers on their own website? And why not push them via Windows Update? Why put them on Microsoft Update Catalog?

I find it bizarre a company continues to develop new drivers.. and then doesn't provide a mirror that's easily viewable on their own site

Thank you, Brink. Excellent forum, especially in regards to keeping up-to-date on drivers.

How do you know if your audio card supports SST? HWiNFO64 says this about my audio card:

Intel Haswell-MB ULT Mini HD Audio Controller
Intel Lynx Point-LP HD Audio Controller
(with the Realtek drivers from this thread)

Should I install the SST version of the Realtek driver?

I have wondered the same thing. In fact, I had never heard of the Microsoft Update Catalog until I found this forum and began following this thread.

Went from 7709 to 7714 and basically did the same thing as in post #606

Only difference is I started running setup.exe from 7714 first and then let it uninstall and reboot, there was no Realtek HD Audio Manager in either the Start Menu or the Control Panel. then tried running 7714's setup.exe again to let it uninstall and reboot, there is Realtek HD Audio Manager in Control Panel but not the start menu.

Uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller Pro and then ran setup.exe from 7714 which installed the drivers and rebooted, no Realtek Audio Manager found in Start Menu or Control Panel. Ran setup.exe from 7714 which installed the drivers and rebooted, Realtek Audio Manager in Control Panel but not in Start Menu. Ran setup.exe from 7714 which installed the drivers and rebooted, Realtek Audio Manager in Control Panel but not in Start Menu.

At this point, uninstalled driver and files in device manager. Ran setup.exe from 7714 which installed the drivers and rebooted, Realtek Audio Manager in Control Panel but not in Start Menu. Ran setup.exe from 7714 which uninstalled, rebooted and installed the drivers and rebooted, Realtek Audio Manager in Control Panel but not in Start Menu. Ran setup.exe from 7714 which uninstalled, rebooted and installed the drivers and rebooted, Realtek Audio Manager in Control Panel but not in Start Menu.

At this point, uninstalled driver and files in device manager. This time I deleted C:\Program Files\Realtek and the C:\Program Files (x86)\Realtek\Audio, there was no C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Realtek folder. Ran setup.exe from 7714 which installed the drivers and rebooted, Realtek Audio Manager in Control Panel but not in Start Menu. Ran setup.exe from 7714 which uninstallted, rebooted and then installed the drivers and rebooted, Realtek Audio Manager was in both Control Panel and Start Menu -> Realtek so made a copy of the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Realtek so in the future, I can just create it manually. Everytime I uninstall the drivers from Device Manager, Windows seems to put the High Definition Audio Driver somewhere as seen in the reliability log below.

Seems like in my case, the way it is fixed is basically uninstalling the drivers first with device manager, deleting the related directories and it's files and keep running setup.exe for the same version as installed until it works.

At this rate, I'll have to start using the beta drivers soon since at the rate their drivers are coming out, we are testing except there doesn't appear to be a way to submit feedback to Realtek to report problems or even have a changelog. And to be honest, no one knows what they are really doing anyways.

Somehow @DooGie, I just knew that would happen... :P I was about to install 7712 and I just had to check if there was a newer version.
