Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Using ASUS Z97-AR and 6.0.1.8318 ASUS drivers.
I'm using 5.1 speakers and for some reason the black line is recognized as side speakers which I don't have. I have the rear speakers. I need to manually change it everytiem I boot windows, even if I change the lines from the registry it switches back upon restart.
And if I don't use the ASUS drivers, I don't even get the Realtek control panel.

Has this issue been fixed in the newer version, like 8346/8351?

    Thanks

Im on ASUS Z97-K , Realtek-CPL is available , no 5.1 or 7.1 only just stereo with 2 Bose loudspeakers , used by DFX on latest Realtek-drivers. For me , more then enough of hardware/software , and giving a clear , rich and awsome sound ( with PDVD17,Win Mediapayer, Windows Groove also ).
Only changing the Realtek-drivers when an update improves the quality of audio on my machine...............

Thats the 8356 ...............not latest and ( imo) not the best also !
Using ASUS mobo too , with 8365 ; awsome audio.........
With the Fx-Enhancer for best result .
For those of us who don't have your setup, etc, that is the latest update since it will work for a vast majority of people.
Then if you have Asus, etc, etc, some updates are specific for what you have and not necessarily for others.
So please, don't say that's “not the latest”.

For anyone with issue, it's better to install the proper driver for your hardware by search on msu with keyword, "your specific hardware id". Eg. go to https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx then for example I add my hardware ids "hdaudio\func_01&ven_10ec&dev_0269&subsys_15585155" on search box. Sort by date or by version and voila, all driver on search result will compatible with your hardware and more less problem then just installing any driver on each update release.

Here's another new v8356 download (w/out the Creative integration files) (135.4Mb) from MS Update; this one should support more realtek audio devices beside those on ASUS boards & laptops

I recently checked v2.0.0.3 of the Creative MBAPO2 integration DLL files (mbapo232.dll & mbapo264.dll) included in the 137.8mb 8356 pack using the Dependency Walker tool (depends.exe) for DLL dependencies and they seem to depend on the API-MS-WIN-CORE-HEAP-L2-1-0.DLL, API-MS-WIN-CORE-REGISTRY-L2-1-0.DLL, and some other *L2-1*.DLL files which are non-existent. these new mbapo232.dll & mbapo264.dll files will only work under recent versions of Win10 (like the v1703 & v1709 versions) and they don't work correctly under Win7 & Win8.1 (unless MS releases some new universal c+ runtime updates for those old OSes that add those *L2-1* DLL files). I have not tested these Creative MBAPO2 DLL files on the v1607 or earlier releases of Win10.

Do people leaving comments really hear such differences between versions of drivers or are they imagining it?

I suspect blind A-B testing would quickly reveal this.

I'd say usually its very subtle over several versions, but then quite often one comes along where you can definitely hear the low and high ends were changed when listening to the same music you use to test. And sometimes many can hear changes in balance, clarity, and/or separation too. While others may not notice any differences at all, probably has to do with the quality their speakers and/or external sound system.
