Knew I opened a can of worms on the version vs chipset thing since even for the chips, each one can be different as it only have to meet the minimum specs so some can perform better or even sound different as no two chips, even the same model is 100% identical.

What do you mean? What is special or different in this driver?

That's true but applying massive amounts of local and global negative feedback usually wipe most differences under the carpet though.

Apart from the file size being considerably smaller, usually the latest updates, at least for 64-bit are 135 MB...
    take a look.

Yeah i saw that the package was a lot smaller as its 32 bit driver and the 64 bit is going to be bigger later. I don't quite understand what Asus has to do with this though. I am running Asus motherboard so i should install this?

It's worth a try, if you don't like it or have any problems you can always roll back to the previous driver.

ASUS get Realtek to code drivers to their specific requirements (hopefully)

Actually, the 64-bit options are already available, they are the ones that are 82.6 MB.
Since you have Asus, it wouldn't hurt to install it and take a listen. It could be that something has been tweaked for your specific motherboard. If you don't like how everything sounds, you could always roll back, right? :)
