The subwoofer is connected to the green jack and the 2 stereo speakers connect to the subwoofer which contains the power supply. Hope this helps to clarify things.
Ah, mine works like this: Green, Black and Brown all go into the Subwoofer, which then has satellite speakers connected to it. Tempted to ditch it and go digital.

Than you have same as I do. It's just plain stereo and subwoofer can't be controlled from computer side without affecting other 2 channels.

Green would be for Front speakers, Black for back and brown for subwoofer/ middle. Those last two can be reversed in Raeltek HD Manager.

That's correct Mike but I can control the subwoofer manually as it has a tone control on it. I can play around with the sound from the tweeters in Realtek HD Audio Manager then tweak the subwoofer to my liking

Yeah, same here, have to use control button to set amount of bass sound on the speaker itself. Sound pitch can be controlled from driver but it affects all 3 at same time. There's an active filter built in the amplifier in the subwoofer housing. If these speakers were not this good I would have switched to digital but than I would have to buy whole new set. I had another set like that connected as rear speakers but amp died.

Nope, some no name brought from Switzerland in a plain brown cardboard box, but have real good sound. One subwoofer and two satellites with midrange and tweeters.

what do I do once I install, extract?

I didn't know to extract or not extract. I re-started the computer but no change.
