You don't have to rollback to 1511...Just update your Windows 1607 AU with the KB3176936 and KB3176934 cumulative updates and ALL you external "aka RAW" usb discs and internal HDD and SSD discs are fully and functionally being recognized..

I have 1607 with both KB3176936 and KB 3176934, and this is my external hard drive:

And it works just fine on my laptop which is still on 1511.

I have both those updates and the problem with RAW is not fixed. In fact on another forum a MS guy stated that those two updates do not fix the RAW bug

I wish to say Thanks for this thread, it gave me the idea of using a bit of caution. I hadn't Upgraded my main computer from Version 1511 to Version 1607 until yesterday and thanks to this thread I first pulled the power from my 3 USB drives, did the Upgrade and assured most things worked then plugged the drives in and things are good.

My USB Superdrive was not recognized as drive, but as RAW device..After this morning updates all is fixed..Also a Seagate 500GB external USB 3.0 drive was properly recognized and populated correct size today (I had problems -was recognized as "locked" drive and couldn't copy or move anything from or to my PC/drive - when it was connected to USB 3.0 port in 1607 (OS Build 14393.51)..Could this be related to personalised PC settings between users and PC configurations respectively ? Only Microsoft knows!!

I just updated to OS build 14393.82, and the problem continues, my external HDD still shows up as RAW. I have a Toshiba Canvio Basics 3.0 external HDD.

I have three externals attached to my Windows 10 Build 14393.82 desktop (just now attached my new Toshiba Canvio 2TB) and all three are visible for me. I have a WD Passport 500GB, an older Toshiba Ext 500GB and the new Toshiba Canvio 2TB.

The desktop is an HP 500-056 with a 500GB SSD inside.

I haven't done anything differently than upgrading and using the computer.

I have fixed my problem using this partition recovery tool and this guide, and this is now what my drive looks like in disk management:

I don't know if it will work for you people with "Raw" partitions, but my "unallocated space" is now being seen properly

I have no intention of upgrading until MS fixes this serious problem.
