Yes but the pre-release version is the final version. Both are the same thing. We had 14393 than 14393.3 with KB updates and than 14393.5 with KB updates. Than they finalized the build 14393.5 probably with the cumulative updates inside it and this is the final release or pre-release version which meant they sent out copies of the build to the manufacturers to throw into the computers in case they want new up to models on release day the 2nd. The version I'm on is the version the public is getting tomorrow the 2nd.

I wanted to throw this out there because if you aren't already on 14393.5 (1607) than tomorrow you are just gonna lose everything you just did the last few days going to the new OS. This is a new OS upgrade like going from one OS to another OS. It isn't just a small update. Its a new OS.

I did some tweaking the last few days and even with all my generic Microsoft drivers my wired or wireless internet is just as fast as it always was. So I have no reason to keep digging through drivers. 90% of internet performance issues after installs are from settings. Either from DNS, DNS cache, random bandwidth programs/apps pulling from it or even some simple registry tweaks

Good news. After I did a fresh install of Windows from a USB drive, the WiFi seems to be working really well (UPDATE edit: nevermind, it's still pretty inconsistent). I don't want to jinx myself and mark this as solved yet, but the version of Intel 8260 that Windows Update installed is actually 18.20--the same version that the Lenovo site suggested. I don't see any installed drivers (like Intel PROSet/Wireless) under "Programs and Features" though nor did it show up in my update history.

This OS issue seems like a big deal though. Maybe we should get it out of the way as well. I see that my OS build hasn't been upgraded yet, and Windows Update says that my system is up to date. Is there any way to do an upgrade manually?

I have a Yoga 900 (Well, I've had 5 of them actually, long story, but I ended up returning 3 of them for various problems, and I still have 2).

I had nothing but problems with the WiFi on it, particularly with trying to use the 5GHz spectrum. Using the standard Windows drivers, and the drivers provided by Lenovo, it was just terrible with my Asus router. I had to use the Wireless/PROset drivers from the intel website to make it work correctly, but I still had some intermittent problems. My logs showed something fishy with duplicate IPv6 addresses on my wireless network.

Finally, I did a network reset (go into Settings, and under Network & Internet, there is Network reset. After I did that, everything started working correctly.

Hi Mystere, thanks for contributing. I'll definitely try that and see if it works for me.

    I found another interesting observation...

In Windows Update it says there was an error Installing 8260.

I finally solved the problem, guys. All I had to do was change the channel of my router (went from Ch. 6 to 7), and the WiFi is working at its full potential. Thank you guys for helping me. I really appreciate the assistance! :)
