Safely Remove & Windows 10 question.
On my Windows 10 machine, I've noticed something really strange. First here the system:
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64 bit
Processor: AMD A8-4500M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, AMD64 Family 21 Model 16 Stepping 1
Processor Count: 4
RAM: 5596 Mb
3xUSB 3.0, 1xUSB 2.0
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7640G, 512 Mb
Hard Drives: C: Total - 277580 MB, Free - 208921 MB; D: Total - 303375 MB, Free - 251420 MB; F: Total - 27374 MB, Free - 3185 MB;
Motherboard: Hewlett-Packard, 1833
Antivirus: Windows Defender
Everytime I plug in a USB device (makes no difference which port used), and if I only read from the USB device, If I open up "Safely Remove", and request to remove the device, I always get "The device is busy in use by another task and cannot be removed". But if I write too that device ie: open up a .txt file and do a save-as to the same device, it writes to the device. If I then open up "Safely Remove", and request it to be removed, I will then get the normal "remove the device" message. If I perform the same procedure on my Windows 7 system, it will safely remove without having to write to it.
Any Ideas why Win 10 functions this way ?
